Seriously? We've recruited good. He's an App guy, but he's not head coach material. 1 Bowl win, 4-7 vs. Coastal, JMU, GSU, Marshall. We have gotten progressively worse every year he's been at the helm. December 1 can't get here soon enough.
Maybe Coastal, JMU, Marshall, and Georgia Southern are good too. Remember Drinkwitz lost to Georgia Southern too.
One fluke loss away from a NY6 Bowl. Satterfield left the keys to a brand new Lamborghini. Drinkwitz did not wreck it. Clark is totaling it.

Regardless of what anyone says or thinks, Shawn Clark is continuing to build upon a program that will stand the test of time. Any fan that is willing to just settle for a NY6 bowl is not setting their goals high enough. Anything less than a National Championship will be a disappointment.

Maybe the coach is not the problem. Maybe we need better fans that expect to win every game, but do not gage their happiness on whether App wins or looses.

If you get rid of Clark now you may be just like UNC-Ch get rid of Mack Brown for someone that can win and then praise his return. Heck the coaches after Brown could not even win when they cheated. If you are going to cheat at least win.
I see this a lot, why does it always get worse if we get rid of Coach Clark? I hear money issue’s won’t let us hire a better coach. I hear we will just be getting someone who will use us as a stepping stone. For me there is something between NY6 or failure. But no legitimate fact based argument can say we are better or are getting better under Coach Clark. For the most part we beat bad teams and we even struggle to beat some of those bad teams. But I’ll go back to my initial question, why can’t we get a head coach that will have us at the top of the Belt again? As for good things under Coach Clark, he has run the program with class.
But, the wins and the championships aren't there.

Pretty sure Clark is the only coach to beat 2 top 20 ranked teams (Coastal in 21 and A&M in 22).

A lot of us base App State Football on championships. A&M ended up going 5-7. As for 2021, those were mostly Satt's guys.

He has made me get up and off the couch more doing games which equals more exercise, so that's a good thing.
But, the losing has led to more drinking, so it's a wash.

Shawn Clark has saved me money on tickets to games this year and he's freed up the rest of my Saturdays to do some more minor home improvement projects.

Clark has a SBC East Division Title
Clark has beaten 2 teams ranked inside top 15

That's just ridiculous. Support the players and the team. That's the definition of fair weather when you only support during the highs.

The comment is legit. I do not subscribe to the idea that I am done with App. St. football just because we are not winning to a certain level. I am an alumni and a fan win or lose.

The reply about UNC is an elementary school level response on the playground.

Wanted to add a couple of things for clarity regarding 2021 and 2022 that need to be mentioned alongside the accomplishments:
2021:
Won 10 games (5th double figure win season in FBS history). Satt had 3, Drink 1.
Beat ECU
Beat #14 Coastal
Beat Stink
SBC East Division Champs
*Lost first conference championship game
*Lost first bowl game since moving to 1-A (snapped at 6 games)
Made a Bowl (can't win every bowl, bound to lose one)

2022:
Hired Frank Ponce and Scott Sloan back
Beat #6 Texas A M
ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY 1st Ever
*Beat Troy by a miracle last play after leading the game heading into the 4th
*Lost to JMU after leading 28-3
*Random loss to a bad Texas State team (went 4-8)
*Lost critical game at Coastal
*Went 6-6 (two of those wins being against 1-AA competition)
*Bowl invite streak snapped
*One of the worst third down defenses in the country
*(Missed FG in Double OT to lose to Stink in Statesboro)....which extended our recent poor performance in OT

Spending more money does not guarantee the best players. A&M has 100x more money than we do and we beat them last year. Money does not equal wins. Being good at evaluating and developing talent is what does it. I look at this like the NFL. If you draft well in the NFL then you don't have to trade for stars or pay massive money to every good player you draft. That is the same thing here. Sure we lost Jalen but if we are doing a good job of finding players then we should have someone to replace him.

I will use Western Carolina as an example. They have several good players this year that we should want from the portal when they enter, or be making back channel calls to have people they know tell them we are interested. They have players that we perhaps missed out on coming out of high school. It is impossible to be perfect but we will never have the money to prevent P5 poaching so we have to pluck from FCS and D2 programs and make sure we are as accurate as possible with high school recruiting. There are players out there every year at every position that we could have who end up being good players. The only thing where I say money matters is your recruiting budget that allows you to get out there and go to those places. It still does not take 20M bucks a year to go do that. You should be able to do so with a budget of less than 1.2M easily. I would think it could be done for less than 1M.
