Not sure I see why ACC would extend to West VA...other than as some defensive measure to have enough teams so ESPN does not have an out to renegotiate down (assuming current ACC teams leave). No disrespect to West By God Virginia as it is a beautiful state in many areas...but does not have value as it relates to a TV contract. Just my opinion

So is App, but neither bring enough denero to the table. Nor does the ACC want more NC members.
You may be right, but what does SMU bring? Heck, as I understand it, they will receive no revenue for 9 years. I think ECU and App are out because we don't expand the footprint, which means no more money. I'm happy where we are.

App can get in by foregoing all future TV revenue to the ACC and pay $100M upfront. ACC will welcome us with open arms.

College football has lost its marbles with these conference realignments. They are going to have to change names of conferences. PAC12 coming into ACC is absurd and SMU is like WTH! Heck just let the SEC join the NFL and let the remainder P5s cry about that.
KICK ASS!!!

What is happening, and perhaps intentionally, is the development of two Super Conferences to operate like the AFC and NFC in the NFL. Those college conferences, SEC, BIG 10, will recruit and bring the best recruits in to prep them for NFL teams. What's left of college football will be the USFL, or XFL. If someone in the remaining conferences show promise they will be promoted to "AAA ball" from "AA ball" etc via The Portal. For me this will effective kill college football.

I’d say if that happens what’s left of college football will be college football. I’m alright with that. Except for the “AAA/AA” part. I don’t see that happening.

I’ve lost interest in college football outside of our bubble. It’s sad.

Then Alabama and Ohio State can be just as loved or respected as the Toledo Mud Hens or the Albuquerque Isotopes.

This is why SMU was fine with taking a reduced TV contract for the short term
