It’s difficult to handicap a game that is weeks or months away. No one knows what a team is going to look like in the future given potential injuries and hopefully positive improvements. Just enjoy the ride.

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
I certainly expect a win but recognize that GW returns 10 starters on D and have some weapons on offense. Their status as an FCS doesn’t diminish the notion that they can make it competitive. Coming off a 6-6 season means we have some questions to answer. I’m encouraged by camp reports and the health of the team. And for the record I anticipate an 8/9 win season.

GW's defense returns 10 starters that gave up an average of 29 ppg with a Big South schedule. They did play 3 G5 teams though.

All BS aside we should beat GW handilyappfanjj wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:44 pmSounds like you have absolutely no faith in our players or coaches. Maybe your expectations have been lowered but not everyone's. Definite loss to NC and we'll be damn lucky if we beat Wyoming? A very possible loss to ECU that could really land us at 1-3?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:18 pmOkay, none of my options (and that's all they are) are popular. I feel like expectations have been lowered over the past few years. Going into last year 8-4 seemed about right. We played Carolina and A&M and had a rough conference schedule (Coastal, Marshall and Southern on the road). This year's conference schedule seems easier, those three are at home, as is So. Miss. ECU feels likes an extremely important game. We should beat GW (not by 50) and loose to Carolina. Wyoming is going to be tough. No one knows if they are good. They are well coached. And Laramie is basically the Moon (500ft higher than twice Boone's altitude). Loose to ECU and we're likely 1-3. If that, nightmare, scenario happens, we'll be 4-11 against our last FBS opponents. That really could happen.
I agree we possibly could be 1-3 at that point but we could also be 4-0. Let's play the games before we automatically put them in the loss column.
By the way, NC does have a good QB but they aren't, as a team, the gold standard of college football by any means.
I'm guessing we'll be a 2 touchdown dog at UNC - everyone knows Maye is the real deal.
Slight favorite over ECU - their coach had them playing well last year
Wyoming is west of the Mississippi River so ???
Hope ULM isn't this years Texas St pooch we screw?
2- 3 would suck bad, Expecting 3-2 in September , Surprised and happy if we are 4-1 , 5 - 0 no way

I’m not saying it’s a high likelihood, but I do think there is a world where 5-0 is a reality. I think the defense is going to be a problem again for UNC. The weapons on offense are also a downgrade from last year, but yeah I agree that Maye is the real deal.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 3:19 pmAll BS aside we should beat GW handilyappfanjj wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:44 pmSounds like you have absolutely no faith in our players or coaches. I think the other 3 games (not including GW) are all games App is favored in. But of course this all kinda hinges on the execution at QB IMO.

No doubt a double edged sword. They weren’t stellar but they do have a year more experience.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 2:42 pmGW's defense returns 10 starters that gave up an average of 29 ppg with a Big South schedule. They did play 3 G5 teams though.

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
I don't know why anyone is looking ahead past the first game of the season. We have to FOCUS. One game at a time. We HAVE to keep that 1-0 every week mentality. If we start looking ahead to other games, the season is doomed. #BeatETSU

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
It's fun to look ahead so to speak and discuss different games but I agree, one at a time. Last year was really crazy with the hype and wild UNC game, the huge (at the time) win at A&M, Game Day, Hail Mary. How could we not have a let down after all that? From that point on it was a huge drop off. Most of us probably watched Mountaineer Talk the other night. Lots of talk about this being a reset. For me I think Coach absolutely knows how last season was viewed and absolutely knows the expectations this year. I really hope we don't continue with the crazy running back rotation, we utilize our tight ends more and we improve our tackling on defense. We got bitch slapped by Texas State and JMU. I want us to be disciplined but at the same time we need some fire on the field.

I do not think the players/coaches and care if folks on YC are looking one game at a time or 12 games ahead at a time. I do not think that impacted the outcome of any games last year or any in past..just going out on a limb here...

He really makes it impossible to watch these press conferences... I know the administration at one point joked about holding two -- one so Ware can sit in front of the mic to give his updates and another one so the actual trained media professionals that can actually do their jobs.
Seems like the Winston Salem journal would have had someone there.

I like the optimism..just don't see us beating UNC. But, that's why you lace 'em up and see what happens.

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
I’ll reserve judgement on that until after Saturday once I’ve seen how both play. They have a lot of questions that need to be answered like we do. Maye is a great QB but I’ve only ever seen one QB that could win a game by himself.

You realize you just caused us to lose to GW with that attitude, right? Your words have a direct impact on the game, genius.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 6:58 amI do not think the players/coaches and care if folks on YC are looking one game at a time or 12 games ahead at a time.
