I generally don’t care about saving red shirts. We can recruit a running back. But why waste it on one play if we may need him against Georgia Southern and in a bowl in a game we have a comfortable lead? That’s the lack of attention to detail that many of us are talking about.

It’s bordering on aloofness.
You mean to tell me you don't think the coaches are aware? You can't be that dense.

And he was in for 2 plays.
Okay. Two plays. But if you can’t see my point, then you’re just trying to protect your access. I raise a legitimate question.

If you're going to start negative diatribe over a situation you have minimal knowledge about, go ahead.

I'm not a PR flack or a journalist.
I can agree you’re definitely not a journalist.

If you really think coaches weren't playing a senior who has given his all for Appalachian State on senior day simply so they could get a freshman two carries, you'll never be pleased.

Maybe Chop was getting his ankle taped. Maybe he was stretching out a cramp. Maybe he was taking a piss. I don't know either.

But I can guarantee you there was a good reason for it. And its not because the coaches don't have any awareness and are aloof like you claim.

I'm sure the coaches are aware of redshirt situations but that's tough to burn a game for 2 plays. Hope Castle is ok. Looks like a shoulder injury. Cam must really be banged up. Great effort by Marshall today but we just milked that win in the second half.

I hope someone has the journalistic chops/balls to ask that question. I don’t understand painting oneself into a corner with Roberts’ red shirt on a game that’s basically already won — even if the injury situation was as dire as you stated (which apparently it wasn’t). We’ve run empty backfields before. If we want to keep it on the ground, a jet sweep is a great option.

Didn’t get to watch any of the game but got to listen to majority of it. Glad we didn’t blow this one like we did with JMU. Seems when we get up we get too confident and think we can coast away with a win.

PROUD of these seniors for going out with a win for their final home game. Let’s see them take care of business at southern and then a bowl game!

Bottom line, only 2 plays for Kanye to burn a game is inexcusable. PERIOD.

I agree, it's odd. But to blame it on the coaches not being aware of the situation is even more absurd.

Very strong first half against a team that is clearly mailing it in.

I’ve still seen nothing that suggests to me our team is strong enough to win this crucial game on the road next week. Prove me wrong.

If GaSo loses to Marshall then next week's game is HUGE..... Both teams will need that final win to be bowl eligible. GaSo will be chomping at the bit to end our bowl run. I hope they beat Marshall tonight so that motivation isn't in play.

Glad the seniors got a win for their final home game and high hopes for next week. Very boring 2nd half just trying to get the game over. Would have liked to see a 2nd QB in 4th qtr.

Coaches awareness aside, once they played him, why the heck not give him some more action the rest of the way? Thats what I’m wondering about.

That's what made zero sense. Marshall played great but dang let the man play a little if your gonna burn a game.

I guess we’ve got to find something to be mad about during a win. His redshirt hasn’t been burned yet and we have no idea if he will need to play the next game (or 2!) or not. Why is this even a thing that matters?

In retrospect I agree. To worry about this is a bit ridiculous. If he's needed next week absolutely play him for the win. Even if we get the win and into a bowl whether he plays or not is what it is. If the young man is who we hope 3 years is still a good bit to play.

I hope we don’t have to play him next week and it becomes a moot point after we win and make a bowl.

Looks like Southern is going to get trounced by the Herd. This will make the game next week the most important we have had vs the Stink in a long time. We will see who wants it most. I would give us even odds.

Do bowl games even count against redshirt eligibility? May be a dumb question but seems like that 4 game rule should only be regular season.

EDIT - seems like they do affect eligibility based on what I have read. I would be very unhappy if we burn his redshirt this season. 2 plays is a head scratcher for sure. Noel, Chop and Armani should all be enough against GSU if healthy. Hell, give the other freshman RB or Jackson Green some snaps if needed as a decoy to save Roberts’ 4th game for a bowl hopefully.
