Returning for 2023

Unread post by goapps93 » Wed Nov 16, 2022 10:55 am

I’m not closing the door on this season yet but do we have any idea who, if any, of our current 5YR R-Jr. players might return next season? There are a lot of them.
WE ARE YOSEF!

Agreed, I'm not closing the door on the season either. If we play to our potential the next two games should be Ws. Finish with a bowl victory and things become much better during the off season.

That is a good question and one I would like to know as well. It seems we are honoring players like Peoples, Hardy, Hodges, Hampton, etc.. who are "technically" juniors based on SC comments. Obviously Hampton is going to the draft but this makes me believe we will be losing a lot of important players.

Peoples and Hampton are definitely gone. They accepted the senior bowl invites.

Clark is trying to talk Hodges and Hardy into staying but they're both leaning towards going NFL.

I have spoken with folks close to Hodges and Hardy and I concur with the above. I suspect, and no real knowledge, Daley is done. B. Harrington may be done playing based on his injury. Other than that. No clue.

daggone. At least 3 new starting OL, QB, TE; at least 4 new starters on defense... Gonna need quite a few people to step up or back to square one

After this season, do they have a legitimate NFL shot? I would say the cards are stacked against them.

Never know. An extra year in college probably wouldn't move the needle that much more, and runs the risk of a career ending injury.

While we as fans want guys here as long as possible I'm sure most of them are ready to move on with life. College is great but it's still hard to imagine someone wanting to hang around for 6 years. We will be ok.

Hampton needs to maximize his chance of going high in the draft. He has all the measurable and stats they’re looking for. A great pro day could skyrocket his appeal.

Peoples needs to go for it because of his injury history, and the short shelf life of NFL backs. Plus we haven’t really utilized him as much this year as we did last year it seems.

Honestly Noel might look to do the same. He’s got potential as a Darren Sproles type of scat back at the next level.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think it would be the worst thing possible to thin out the RB room to have a consistent young 1-2 punch.

Given that 3 of your top 4 missed time with injury, that doesn’t seem like a good idea.

I know we have had the debate before on who's the better RB but to my eyes NN is a three down RB. Not only does he have great vision and patience but he is an asset in the pass game if needed (blocking or catching) I DON'T want to see him leave just yet selfishly. With Marshall and Roberts and yes....................Castle ( I joke - love the kids work ethic) it's a good mix of speed and power

And you can add incoming Freshman Comey to the list. I also wouldn’t necessarily count out CB recruit DJ Porter out as a potential flip to offense.

All of the student athletes have paid their dues and I hope they make the decision that is best for them. App will hopefully re load with the up and comers. If it was me - being in my 50's - I would stay in school for ever and never leave. Just a dream........

I'd feel good rolling into the season with Nate, Marshall, Castle and Kanye.

I thought Hardy just wanted to go in work force? If he is trying to go NFL then he could definitely use another year.
