Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
Some of this sounds like the telephone game and of course click-bait news headlines from FoxNews. There were some injuries but I have yet to hear from a reliable source of SERIOUS injuries. I am not sure what constitutes a traumatic injury but a twisted ankle and busted lip might qualify, but likely not going to prevent going to class on Monday. This sounds a lot like the telephone game and of course click bait headlines from FoxNews.
If you rush the field you might be asking for a twisted angle or jumping a fence could lead to contusions and abrasions and maybe some lacerations. Rushing the field does not happen often but it does happen. Better to allow it safely. Put some openers on the fence. And any one rushing the field deserves getting smacked by the opposing team in an emotionally charged environment that leads to rushing the field. I watched the video and I think the student took a face plant into the ground after a bit of a push in the back. He either said something or just walked to close in front of the Troy lineman. Either way that's on the student rushing the field in front of a Troy player.
I also saw a video of Chase helping students over the wall and even helped up a female student that fell a bit hard and he checked on her.
I'll be honest I was fully aware of what I was doing, and after jumping around in the stands and embracing a multitude of complete strangers and a former players sitting behind me, I did get onto the field for about 3 or 4 minutes and hugged a few players, a coach and two parents. I was aware of what I was doing but it was also a bit of an out-of-body experience in that I could not really stop myself. I did have the thinking ability to reach back and grab my drink bottle and take that with me and the program so as to not leave any litter in KBS. I was not totally out of my mind as I am still an environmentalist.

Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
If there was seating a crowd can't exactly run down and push because the bleacher bench seats pose obstacles like hurdles and trip up people trying to push and storm a barrier. Yes, there could be injuries still but an obstacle is an obstacle.
There could easily be 5,000 seats on Miller Hill and then still room for standing room only on the large expanse of asphalt.
ASAP with the sold out remaining games, the band needs to be out of the student section seating and on some temp bleachers placed somewhere until a permanent solution can be figured out.
This is tragic for those injured and props to Troy staff for assisting in the chaos.

And maybe instead of posting on here twice about a video and taking that time to even include what to search for the video you could have just posted the video. Took care of the kids right after I shared the link. Didn't really take that long, and the kids are happy as can be playing together nicely now. Appreciate that unsolicited parenting advice though.GlassOnion wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:01 amMaybe should have spent that time with the fighting kids. Check out the video supplied on the ESPN home page and you can see at the 53 second mark where the fan is hitting the Troy player #28 in the back and promptly gets pushed down by the other player.

Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
We won a thrilling game and this is the hot topic thread post mortem. Of course...because it gives people a chance to bitch and argue. It's true this board only posts when there is something to complain about.
I'll add mine. We should never have gotten rid of the temp bleachers. The beer garden space is a waste and an eye sore honestly. Plus it gives the band a place to be heard by the whole stadium and allows more students to be in the stands.

Here’s a thought. How about we stop acting like children about posting links and actually talk about people being injured/what can we do better to minimize it in the future.

Seems as best I can read online is the worst injuries were broken bones. Facilities didn’t cause the injuries., choices did. Quick recovery to those who were hurt.

Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
I had cut and pasted the bit of text after jumping later into the thread and I did not notice I did the paste twice. I am not even sure how I did it twice, but I did. (I am at work and was getting set up for a show in the planetarium if you really need an excuse.) It likely can be found on other news sites with a similar click-bait headline but it was someone else that posted a FoxNews link and that is the link in the thread.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:23 amI like that you worked Fox News in not once but twice to make your overarching point.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:13 amSome of this sounds like the telephone game and of course click-bait news headlines from FoxNews. Obviously there are a few sites that don't do this. The associated press, BBC and some of the other British news sites, and NPR.
Everybody else is into profit mode, profit mode, profit mode, get clicks, get clicks, get eyes, get eyes, get eyes from whomever the target is.

How exactly would seats on the hill prevent a mass rush of people in a celebratory mood? While it’s unfortunate that this happened, I don’t see how this is on the university. They put up a barrier.

Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
My point about posting the foxnews link was that it made their front page for all the national readers to see. It doesn't matter what you think about fox news or if the information is even correct. It was front page news that doesn't look good for us.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:50 amI had cut and pasted the bit of text after jumping later into the thread and I did not notice I did the paste twice. Re: Prayers for those injured on Miiler Hill
I think the web article was edited after the fact to include a note about it not being as serious as first posted. I try and avoid FoxNews, to be honest, and not give them clicks but I did click this article and seem to remember that at the bottom. That helps but they should have just retracted the article as they made it sound worse than it was from everything I saw and know about what happened.appdaze wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:08 pmMy point about posting the foxnews link was that it made their front page for all the national readers to see.
