What a game. So glad we are a school with passionate students and fans that love their team.

Putting the band back in the west stands after the Carolina game sent more students to Miller hill. Security did not let students pack it in the west side student section. We had over 34,000 people of which 32000 were in the stadium for the last play. Highest density of people was on Miller hill.

In the short term, add multiple (5-6) field access points along the Miller Hill fence in South End Zone. That way people can get on the field after the game without having to knock something down. Put security at access points to keep people from running on the field during play like the east and west side.

The best long term answer for me at least… is rebuild the east side. Make it look like the west side if possible. Then let the students have the lower level on both side east and west.

I hope everyone is ok. but really? We need to eliminate the hill altogether now? Come on
Ive advocated on here to get rid of it for years. Its a huge liability. The few times I sat on it as a student I spent half the game being fallen on or avoiding people falling. We need seats all the way around.

Very sorry to hear about the fans getting hurt down there. And props to the Troy medical staff for what they did to help the injured.

Yes, the Miller Hill vibe is great with much in the way of singing, dancing and getting your beer and vape on.

Regardless of how fans feel about it, this incident will reinforce the administration's decision to "reimagine" Miller Hill at some time in the not too distant future.

Heard someone got impaled on the fence. No idea how they're doing.
That and a broken spine and a few concussions on the field. A few broken bones on duck pond. Football gear was swiped from the sideline.

I've not seen this on here, but on YouTube there is a video labeled "Troy OL Punching an App St. Fan in the Head..." is anyone aware of this and is that one of the injuries?

Have we moved away from basically using hill seating for families with children (overflow) to now cramming students there? You also have to add in massive alcohol consumption plus lots of extra bodies and fencing that doesn't stop anyone. Just being on a hill itself lends to people falling all over each other.

People getting hurt is not good BUT let’s step back a moment and think about it. There was a crazy ending to a wild game and the crowd went ballistic.

Whether there was a hill there or not the students were going to rush the field at ANY stadium.

The type of fence with pointed tops is probably a bad idea for that location knowing that scenario could occur. A short wall that either holds or intentionally goes down on ground is probably better solution. That solves anyone getting impelled.

When a large crowd of many thousand stampede it is possible or likely some folks may get hurt. Not good but that is reality.

I don’t believe any level of security is going to stop 10,000 people rushing field.

So before folks start jumping to conclusions think about what you are trying to solve and what is realistic.

I will not be posting it here because it is gruesome, just saw a picture on twitter of a kid with a bone popped out of his shin. Brutal

Too lazy to share the link yourself? Hardly in the back of the head, looked more like the right shoulder blade area but a push/punch none the less. Not sure if it was one of the injuries that happened, the guy looked like he got right back up at the end of the video. The Naruto run he was doing didn't help with balance to help counter the push.

This is all I noted. It is not that bad. He should not have done it as the fan was not really in his space. But, you run on the field, $#&@ happens...do it at your own risk
I love the on field celebration, however, things happen

I never understood having spike tops on those five-foot-high Miller Hill fences. If someone wants to run on the field, it's going to happen, especially with those columns every 15 or so feet.

I would wager only having one fence opening for several thousand people, thus people creating their own openings, contributed to the injuries.

Short term for the next two homes games in the next two weeks, multiple fence gates and get rid of the spike tops. Long term is a bridge we'll cross down the road.

I have three kids as well, and searched exactly what you spent time typing into this thread and found it instantly. All that while the kids were fighting with each other. All I'm saying is if you have time to post twice about the video not sure how you don't have time to copy and paste the link for it.

You have to see the whole situation to understand that this fan deserved the knockdown by the Troy player. The Troy player was reacting to the fan having just smacked their player #28 several times in the back. He had it coming to him.

Maybe should have spent that time with the fighting kids. Again, thanks.
