Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
Was getting ready to say - it's interesting how "far" he's fallen in the pecking order (he's still getting draft hype and will probably make some money playing pro football). It's gotta kill the CCU faithful (all 12 of them) that they're not the golden child again this season.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:43 amI thought McCall was a top 5 QB?biggie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:23 amhttps://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/draft2 ... e-receiver

I haven't watched any CCU plays this year so I can't speak to McCalls performance so far....but are we sure his injury (throwing shoulder??) is fully healed and that he is 100%?

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
McCall’s shoulder seems obviously really hurt. He grabs it after every throw and is constantly letting it hang and rubbing it. That doesn’t get better while playing the physical football they ask him to play.
This could kill his draft stock, and can jeopardize his career. The way that staff has used him thru injuries and concussions over the years is crazy.

Just went and looked at their previous two games so far this season, they only beat Gardner Webb by 4 pts.GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 10:11 amMcCall’s shoulder seems obviously really hurt. Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
Remember that these are their opinions and not where they stand with the NFL teams necessarily. He could have been a 2-3 or so last year but the shoulder injury and his start to the season likely would have Grayson ranked lower. The scans on his shoulder could end up determining his final draft stock. I could see him end up being a 5-7 or PFA. It just depends.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:43 amI thought McCall was a top 5 QB?biggie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:23 amhttps://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/draft2 ... e-receiver

Haener is a definite draft pick and so is Hooker and Jefferson right now. Hartman has the blood clot issues so it will be interesting to see if his medical ends up dropping him out also.
I would say Brice is more of a PFA in the eyes of teams now. He had at least 4-5 over throws in the A&M game so still struggling with that some. If Brice can clean that up he could get drafted and it will be interesting to see if he and the WRs gel enough that he improves it.

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
It was a torn rotator cuff and he was on a pitch count in fall camp so we do not know. A NFL connection of mine told me that McCall is mostly throwing short passes now instead of going deep like he use to. I am guessing his shoulder is not 100% but only McCall knows the answer to his status.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 9:11 amI haven't watched any CCU plays this year so I can't speak to McCalls performance so far....but are we sure his injury (throwing shoulder??) is fully healed and that he is 100%?

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
Most of us said they are one hit wonders, and were called jealous, but the truth is we called it what it was. If they can replace Chadwell with a good head coach though they should at least be a solid G5 program. I hope they remain a good team to keep the SBC strong but they are definitely not the top 15-20 program that many of their fans, and some at ESPN, thought they were.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:46 amWas getting ready to say - it's interesting how "far" he's fallen in the pecking order (he's still getting draft hype and will probably make some money playing pro football). Their big question is will they fall down to the bottom when they no longer can get Moglia's money? They would not be FBS right now if not for Moglia.

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
How many QB's drafted in the 5th-7th round make the teams who select them? Seems like unless you go day 1 or 2 it's better to be a FA and land on a team who genuinely needs a backup or practice squad guy. Ride it out a year or 2 and then seize an opportunity. Even if a guy doesn't become a starter many make a great living as journeyman backups.

Simply put, Chadwell has ruined McCalls career. Chadwell only cares about himself. The surgery McCall had in the off season is a much longer recovery. I understand technology and sports medicine has improved greatly in the past couple years, but there's absolutely no way he's fully recovered.
It would be akin to a WR/RB tearing his ACL and running routes and taking hits in under 3 months.

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
It seems like for a year or two that those taken in rounds 1-5 usually end up with the team who picks them. It is a crap shoot with rounds 6-7. This year all those taken in 1-5 are on same team but the QB from SDSU in round 6 was cut and not with his team. McCall's shoulder is going to make him a huge question mark. It will be interesting to see how he looks late in the season.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 12:46 pmHow many QB's drafted in the 5th-7th round make the teams who select them? Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
This is what I remember being discussed last year. If what we've been told is true its really a strange situation, especially from McCall's perspective. I wonder if he hadn't gotten hurt if he would have left for the draft and Chadwell would be gone as well...AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 1:11 pmSimply put, Chadwell has ruined McCalls career. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if McCall isn’t able to play versus us. Especially all the conference teams that’ll want to kill him in the next few weeks.

Re: Brice - ESPN NFL Draft mention
Rumors in Conway were that if he were healthy and Chadwell had gone to a P5 he would follow him. There was a chance he comes out last year if healthy as well. If you noticed he came out and said he would return to Coastal for one more year. If he returns for 2023 then something is wrong that he thinks he can correct. It will be interesting to see if he leaves early since the belief is that he may not be the same again after the shoulder surgery.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 1:36 pmThis is what I remember being discussed last year. Something to keep an eye on for sure. There are defenders in this league who will surely try to take him out. Torn rotator cuff is no joke.GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:27 pmHonestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if McCall isn’t able to play versus us.
