The End of Miller Hill?

The one thing I’ve never heard anyone say regarding the hill: “Oh, the hill? It’s great. We sit there every weekend.”

But thousands do many weekends even with seats empty in the stands. But we need more concrete.

The ones in the present student section stand up the whole time anyway. Seating would be a waste and hold less fans by far. Leave it alone and spend money more wisely.

So how many people can we put on the hill?

A hell of a lot more than if we built concrete and aluminum to stand up on...because students are going to stand up the whole game anyway...like they presently do in the stands as well as the hill.

Students will stand up in the South Endzone regardless of whether there are stands or not. I still think the capacity increases considerably with stands. I know that there are some who have a real affection for the hill, but we need legit seating if we're going to continue to rise.

Unless the stands go high as the East side, no way can concrete and aluminum seating hold more. They pack like sardines on the hill now.

We are putting temp bleachers in the south end zone for the season. The plan is for enough bleachers to seat 3000 patrons. That number wasn’t just plucked out of the air. They know how many GA tickets they sell on a weekly basis. The justification given for leaving the seats was because the bleachers will allow for more people than the hill seats because people sprawl out on the hill and take up more room. You can continue to argue if you want, but you are wrong.

Not sure, but 3k at $150 per seat is $450k in revenue. I can’t imagine that it would cost more than that.

To put this into perspective for Cline, 3k on the hill at $20 per times 7 games is $420k. So after the 1st game, we are net $30k in revenue with the seats with 6 games left to increase that. Seems like money well spent to me.

I'm all for the bleachers. I know the hill is full of tradition but given the weather most of the time at KBS having bleachers in place prevents the slop the hill becomes when the weather comes. Still think maybe the band should have a seat there as well. Then it would project to the whole stadium. Then fill in the rest. Heck maybe people would stay longer at the game if they had a place to sit.

If the band was when one of those corners that would allow for an extra 750 students to be in the student section. The band with their instruments take up lots of seats. Pretty sure that decision was made before this discussion ever started on the board. Nothing that was said here was going to affect the decision one way or the other. But if you feel that strongly about it, contact the athletic department and make your feelings known. You'll get a lot further with that than posting on a message board and then saying, "See, no one is listening to me."
