Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
One of you insiders take a very early stab at the depth chart. It would be great to get an idea of the height and weight of who might be on the lines as well. Obviously there is a ton of unknown and linemen will get hopefully a little bigger and stronger. We all knew next year was coming and it’s gonna be a huge coaching challenge. I for one would like to think that we have some studs ready for their chance and I also hope that many are even better than the super seniors who commanded the PT. I only threw that last piece in because I wondered if any of them would really sit in favor of, say a really good redshirt freshman or sophomore.

This will be easier to do once we know who of the current Senior class is coming back.

For the sake of pure speculation assume that the whole senior class returns. They can all have an asterisk- lol

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
I agree with AppSt94 that we need to see who all is coming back for sure but here is my guess at the starters.
OFFENSE
LT Anderson Hardy 6-6 290 Sr or Jayden Ramsey 6-6 270 Soph.
LG Damion Daley 6-4 295 Sr
C Luke Smith 6-1 290 Jr or Isaiah Helms 6-3 310 Sr
RG Isaiah Helms 6-3 310 Sr or Seth Williams 6-4 290 Soph or Cooper Hodges 6-4 295 Sr
RT Cooper Hodges 6-4 295 Sr or this is a guess here but maybe Hardy or Ramsey
I’m not sure the best way to get them on field but it appears Hardy, Ramsey, Daley or Smith, Helms, and Hodges would be the starters. Troy Everett and Craig McFarland would also play a lot. PFF thinks a lot of Ramsey as a future super star for us. We will see if they are right.
TE Henry Pearson 6-3 245 Super Senior
QB Chase Brice 6-3 235 Super Senior
RB Nate Noel 5-10 190 Jr or Cam Peoples 6-2 220 Sr or Daetrich Harrington 6-0 195 Super Senior
WR Christian Wells 5-11 180 Jr
WR Christian Horn 6-2 185 Jr
WR Jacoby Pinckney 6-1 210 Jr
I do believe there is a chance that Peoples changes his mind but for now he says he is back. The others I think are all possible but we don’t know for sure. Keep an eye on Dalton Stroman, Dashaun Davis, and Coen Sutton or Da’Shawn Brown.
DEFENSE
DE Deshawn McKnight 6-3 285 Soph
NT Jordan Earle 6-2 290 Sr
DE Hansky Paillant 6-2 240 Sr
OLB Nick Hampton 6-3 225 Sr
ILB Brendan Harrington 6-1 225 Sr
ILB Trey Cobb 6-2 220 Super Senior
OLB T.D. Roof 5-11 215 Super Senior or if he is gone Jalen McLeod 6-1 225 Jr
CB Steven Jones 5-10 180 Super Senior
FS Ryan Huff 6-1 210 Super Senior
SS Nick Ross 5-11 180 Sr
CB Shaun Jolly 5-9 175 Super Senior or Milan Tucker 5-11 165 Jr or Donte Small 6-0 190 Super Senior
I could see Jolly going pro but figured he is 50/50. Jackson is the one guy on defense that would start who I know is gone.
K/KO Michael Hughes 6-3 180 Soph
P Clayton Howell 6-0 190 Super Senior

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
Let's say this all comes to fruition. It doesn't appear to be such the rebuilding year IMO. It is just normal number of losses that most teams have year in and year out. Not to say that players will not be missed for sure and not as stacked as we are this year (but most teams are stacked thus year)...if this comes to fruition, I believe we win 9 or 10.

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
Pretty good roster at this point for sure. Hopefully Cam doesn’t change his mind. The fact he came out and made a statement shows that the rumors had some smoke to them and he was considering leaving. His mother was vocal she wanted him gone. Sounds like a big recruiting win for our staff. Hoping they get the second big one and somehow keep Short.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 5:29 pmLet's say this all comes to fruition. Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
I thought I saw that as well but I did not want to remove anyone who hasn’t publicly made the decision. Brice says he is back and Jackson accepted the Senior Bowl invite so I am pretty sure he is gone. Jackson should strike while the iron is hot and come out on time anyway. I would love to get him back but none of us can blame him for going.postalapp90 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 5:44 pmI thought i saw somewhere earlier in the year that Roof wasnt returning. Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
Wow thanks for working that up. I had not mentioned it but the hope was that a speculative lineup (so to speak) like this does not look that bad. I’m assuming that we redshirted all of the freshmen. Scanned the roster and I don’t recall seeing any of them taking the field. Remember a few years ago when we burned all of those redshirts? Potential linebacker crew looks solid as does the secondary. Hopefully we beef up some defensive linemen. We appear to have some pretty good size guys (o line) who are freshmen and RS freshmen.

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
I was just taking a guess based on what is publicly known so maybe Moose or someone can verify/add to it. I’m sure things will change but it certainly looks solid based on early looks.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 6:15 pmWow thanks for working that up. The OL and WR seem to be biggest question marks. Such as who will play center? Does Hodges kick inside to his pro position? Is Pinckney as good as the rumors? Do we see any redshirt players step in immediately?

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
We only burnt RSs on McKnight and Hughes. No one else has played more than three so everyone can play in the bowl next week without risk.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 6:15 pmWow thanks for working that up. The Roof decision makes the linebacking Corp unsettled. Roof’s decision likely affects where Harrington plays.postalapp90 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 5:44 pmI thought i saw somewhere earlier in the year that Roof wasnt returning. Not portal just moving on. Did I just imagine that

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
I'm really interested to see how the WR shakes out. Wells and Horn haven't dazzled me but they haven't had the chance to really.
Having never seen Pickney, C Sutton, Stroman & Davis I wonder how they will break into the rotation.

I will say this that the foundation is there for this group to be better than the ones leaving. Will it be instantaneous? Doubtful. But they can be good.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 7:39 pmI'm really interested to see how the WR shakes out. Wells and Horn haven't dazzled me but they haven't had the chance to really.

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
TD Roof can be the DPOY in 2022. Just look at him get to the ball and make solid tackles. It started back in high school. Hope he decides to stay for one more ride.
No particular reason, just have a good feeling Stroman will get some snaps at WR next year.

WR is the biggest question to me. Hope a lot of reps with Brice and all of those guys in the off-season.

We will most likely dive into the portal and grab another WR with some experience as well. I like the guys we have coming back and if we can add to it we will be fine.

Re: Next year’s depth chart..take a stab
I'm with you. I really want Short but if indeed he picks SC then I think we are still fine. Apparently they are upset with their OC now and some of their people are thinking he goes to us because they have not fired the OC. That is what they blame losing the Dutch Fork to Clemson on.BOONE BOUND wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 11:28 pmWe will most likely dive into the portal and grab another WR with some experience as well.
