The truth is we have way too many supposed App fans that go full Eric Church come BB season. If you’re wearing any shade of blue come basketball season, you’re part of the problem.

There's more to it than Jerry Moore! I believe that no sports program at App is permitted to have names on unis--with one lone exception. You can have one guess! I back that up with personal observation at live home/away contests and casual observation of appstatesports.com photo galleries and ESPN+ livestreams. If someone can show me evidence to the contrary, I'll gladly eat my words.
It's the right budgetary call during a two-years and counting pandemic, office staff furloughs, et al. With inflation on the rise and great uncertainty likely ahead for our nation's economy, personal names on unis will probably command a bottom two position on athletic department priority spending lists.
Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Most sports other than football and basketball don’t include names on jerseys anyway. I feel like basketball at App has more to do with the coach’s philosophy. Buzz, Capel, etc had names. It stopped with Fox who came from Davidson, who never has names on the back….same with Kerns whose background was with Mike Young at Wofford, who also never had names on jerseys.asu66 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 4:20 amThere's more to it than Jerry Moore! Watched the replay ,we ran a great play at the end , last call could have gone our way but didn't .I'm more concerned about how we got down 17 , essentially losing the game in the first half.It appears that we have half a dozen plus guys capable of taking the ball to the basket .We might need more of that and fewer end of shot clock throws at the hoop .Beat the Blue Hens!

A challenge by Kerns to the community ought to be “ fans make a difference”, not anything that resembles an admonishment. “You come and we can build it”

IMO a coach should never say anything about attendance. That is somebody else’s job. It never does any good (fans will come or not, regardless of what the coach says) and it diminishes the coach, turns him into a cheerleader. Just coach the team - that’s enough of a job in itself. If you build a program and put a good team out there, they will come.

I think...the coach knows that crowds matter when recruiting. Imagine a football recruit coming to Kidd Brewer and then going to the other g5 empty stadiums and crowds. Recruits want to play in front of a crowd....we are going to have a hard time landing recruits until the crowd shows up and unfortunately it is a chicken or the egg situation.
As far as student sections....I would absolutely have the students on one side and season ticket sales on the other. If you don't want the students behind the bench move the camera to the other side of Holmes. It cant be hard. I think we need to fake it till we make it with Students filling up the camera. Make the Season tickets more valuable where people don't want to give up a season ticket seat, you may not get it back during the good years.
We have a go fund me for athletic weight lifting equipment. We being the fans that watch on ESPN+ need to take it upon ourselves to make our telecast better. Better microphones and more cameras. The sound from the announcers should be the first task.

If you've only watched Cameron Indoor Stadium on TV, you'd think it's the wildest gym in the country. If you go in person, the students are going crazy and doing their thing, while the donors sit in the level above them and watch a basketball game. It's not a crazy crowd from top to bottom. But, someone had the foresight years ago to sit the students courtside and the students built the reputation. It's still an outstanding place to watch a game, but it's not necessarily as it is portrayed.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 1:54 pmI think...the coach knows that crowds matter when recruiting.
