Great comment around the 10:50 mark regarding opinions. People watch the ball and form an opinion based on what they see. You have to watch the play away from the ball.

Re: Arky State discussion
The last 2 years, App loses have mostly been a direct result of turnovers and costly penalties. If App plays a turnover free game or is plus in turnovers, they will win.

I hope they play us close and Clark interrupts their post game huddle to tell them how proud they should be.

Just watched 1st half replay of StAte and SoAl. Jags have some talent and can sling the ball around. Redwoods look really small compared to them. Will see. We play App football it won't be close and they may not even score. Play flat and let them hang it could be the classic trap game

Re: Arky State discussion
App has had two games this year where we intentionally DIDN'T score at the end of the game. The Marshall game wasn't really a 1 point win. We were almost certainly (barring fumble) going to score and they knew it. They were going to let us score to give themselves more time to respond. We chose to sit in the ball and not give them any chance. It would have been an 8 point win if we chose to take it. That would have covered the spread at App -7. Against Coastal, we covered (or kept them from covering) by winning the game. The margin could easily have been 7 rather than 3. They couldn't stop us at the end.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:49 pmAnd the way the APP - Coastal game ended tooCro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 7:47 pmLook at the end of the Clemson vs Florida State. Spreads are meaningless once they get to a certain number. Once the game is in hand, it is a better decision to play our backups than to run up the score. I hope our coaches NEVER start coaching to cover a spread.

Re: Arky State discussion
I hope our coaches do not even know the spread. Nor our players. Anybody betting the spread is taking a huge risk that something will happen when they’ve got it covered to blow it for them. That’s why they call it gambling. Right?

Re: Arky State discussion
They did, but USA also played to a two point loss (20-18). A-State also played UL tough. Point is, the transitive properly does NOT apply to football. Every team we play is dangerous, and setting expectations based on a single performance is very inaccurate.

Not trying to make a point, just stating an interesting Funbelt 2021 fact.

Re: Arky State discussion
Regarding the spread, it gets old just telling people we won. Of course we won, we always win. "We covered" throws it up a notch. It's winning the game, but also beating Vegas. A little cocky, but not if you can back it up. Q - How'd App do? A- We covered. or, we got the W but couldn't cover. It makes the baby blue fans hate us that much more. IMO
