This is not about friends. This is about a great football program that took years to build. To question the direction of the program is reasonable. Last night debacle is not on Brice or the other players.

Friends push friends to be better than average. Friends point out when something is wrong.

Lol I love these threads after a loss. Look, I have caught plenty from saying how Chase hasn’t wow’ed me yet, but to say there needs to be a QB change is ridiculous. It wasn’t all his fault. He missed some throws, especially the one that should have been a touchdown coming out of the half, but receivers were dropping them too. We also didn’t have a run game to open up the passing. Last night was poor coaching, poor planning, and poor execution. You mix that with a Louisiana team that wants to prove last years win wasn’t a fluke and you get the whooping we received last night.
And, you have to give credit to the coaching job the Napier did. His team executed their game plan. Getting up big early and stopping the run, forced us to be one dimensional. Their third down defense was great, as was their third down offense. Our defense made some plays, but we didn't take anything away from their offense. They hit the bombs early, which set up their running game. They won the turnover battle. And, Napier does a good job of limiting possessions. They hit the stretch run off left tackle all night long for big gains. Finally, in the fourth quarter, they imposed their will with their large O Line and our D-Line and Linebackers were on skates.

Speaking of turnovers:
2020 Marshall -2
2020 Coastal Carolina -2
2020 Louisiana -3
2021 Miami -1
2021 Marshall -2
2021 Lousiana -3

In those games, we have forced a total of three turnovers. So, we have not a benefit of short fields, quick scores, etc. We have also only had 100 yard rushers in two of the six (Peoples against Coastal, where he had a big first half, then was gassed and we didn't continue the running game and Noel against Marshall this year).

I’m not calling for firings, but this loss is definitely on the coaching staff.
We played scared football. We played not to lose instead of playing to win. When Napier says “scared money don’t make money,” he means how App played last night.

I gave up all hope when we punted down 2 scores on ULL’s 37 yard line. That’s waving the white flag.

Also, I’ve been a pretty big fan of Ponce so far, and I know ULL’s defense is part of the reason, but playcalling got ridiculously conservative after about the 1st quarter. I thought Tony Peterson had snuck back into the booth.

Finally, y’all please correct me if I’m wrong, but where’s our defensive studs? What was the last big play Demetrius Taylor or Shaun Jolly had? Are teams just doing everything they can to minimize those guys or are they not playing nearly as well as the last couple years?

We have Super Seniors, senior transfers, etc. To say it wasn't on the players is ridiculous. And, anyone who says they weren't motivated is also ridiculous. Many came back to play in games like last night and try to avenge/improve on last year. Virgil's KO return fumble, Chase to Malik Williams misfire, Jamir Smith fumble, Brice throwing behind Hennigan that resulted in a pick, Brice missing the deep ball coming out of halftime, taking a sack that led to a punt on the positive side of the field, defenders who were beat deep were all seniors/veterans. We were out coached last night, but we also didn't execute on the games key plays. Louisiana did. There were times that our coaching staff did put us in position and we did not make the play.

Not wanting a coaching change, not wanting a QB change, yet. But obviously last night early in 3rd qtr when we went down 27-6 it was time for a QB change. Huesman could have given us a spark but we will never know. What we were doing wasn't working and it was time to try something else.

I'd like to see anyone actually on the field ready to go next week. I didn't see that last night.

You guys sound like UNCC fans....Coaching didnt cause Jones to get schooled, or turnovers.....Coaching did make plenty of mistakes especially in playcalling or use of personnel
Coaching can be an isue if not corrected but 1 bad game does not call for the changes at QB and Coaching ya'll are calling for. Take a seat and see what happens.

I want to agree with you. I REALLY do. The problem I have is that, to me, this looks like a really talented App team. But we don't seem to play up to our potential. Not really once this year. I'm not shocked Louisiana beat us. They are a good team, and good teams should win at home. But we were completely dominated last night. Louisiana isn't that much better than we are.

If the team is going to play like UNCC, then I think acting like their fans is warranted.

Lets keep things in perspective and focus on what each of us can control. It is ok to be upset. I know our App State coaches and players bleed black and gold. I trust our culture that everyone, I mean everyone will take responsibility for the poor on field performance last night.

ULL beat south Alabama by 2 points. Beat Ga So by 8. They completely annihilated us by 28. I have no metrics to go by that proves SC is the right guy to lead this team. He has proven to me that against tough competition, he struggles to get the most out of the guys.

And that’s the rub, isn’t it? Maybe SC grows and becomes a better coach from this, but maybe this is just what he is. However, if he gets fired, how do you know his replacement will be an upgrade? 1 bad coaching hire can send a program into the wilderness. I don’t have an answer. I just know I’m still mad about us punting down 2 scores on the ULL side of the field.
