Georgia Game - What If
Guys, this time of year gives us plenty of time to let our imaginations run wild. This morning I've been thinking about this year's team, a team that's leading us through a transition; a team without a traditional goal. As a old football player, I know that the boys in black have already identified their own "reasons for playing this year." So, let's speculate. The first thing that comes to my mind and it's not too far fetched is for the team to go undefeated. So, what if the team is undefeated going into the Georgia game. What would be their mind set? If I was a player I would be thinking how the Georgia game offers a very special opportunity for my team to go down in App history as one of the very best teams to wear the black and gold. It really doesn't make any difference whether the notion is realistic or not. The game of football is about passion and emotion, a game of the heart. Reason sometimes isn't a factor. The only factor that counts is if the team believes that they can do it. So, with my speculation and imagination I have contrived a possibility where the Georgia game would become a very "Big Deal." Actually, this dream could become a reality and if it does I will do everything in my power to be there.

UGA fires Richt the Monday after the game if ASU wins. No reason why App can't win. The folks in Ann Arbor didn't think Sep 1, 2007 could've happened, but it did.

1) If App runs the table this season, it has to be considered one of the top seasons in App history.appgrunt71 wrote:Guys, this time of year gives us plenty of time to let our imaginations run wild. 2) If App were to be undefeated going into UGA, it would be our own "bowl game."
3) You're right, anything is possible, and I'm an optimist (and apparently a "rah rah" fan), but I am going to have to temper my speculation for the time being.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Georgia should be ranked #1 or #2 when we play them. Gonna be a hard game....

Geogia's offense is going to be one of the best in the country, but their defense has alot of holes to fill, I think we will move the ball and score , but I will be surprised if we hold them under 35.

Hey... we beat a #5... It's not outside the realm of possibilities...AppState89 wrote:Georgia should be ranked #1 or #2 when we play them. Gonna be a hard game....
(Then comes back down to Earth.)

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Possibility:
App undefeated
UGA undefeated
App wins game finishes season undefeated
UGA wins out, which means they win SEC, SEC Tournament and BCS
Results:
App gets huge discussions by analyst, has strength of schedule questioned, etc, etc. but positions us for top 25 ranking at beginning of first FBS season in 2014
Nice to set the bar high and have a goal.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
So stoked ... will be at this game!
Always wanted to see a game between the hedges.
The only thing about winning this game that upsets me ... I think we would lose the rivalry with GaSo. They would love us forever. EWWWWWWWW
Ahh hell it would be worth it anyway.
Anything is possible!!
Are there any good places to eat in Athens?

This will be UGA's best team in years. I'll be there cheering on the Apps, but I'm not banking on walking out of Sanford Stadium with a W.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but SEC >>>> Big Slow Boring 10.
On the bright side, at least we don't have to worry about injuries to starters since there will be no post season. There are no excuses not to pull out all the stops and play the starters the whole game.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Considering their last two recruiting classes (this years is also Top 5 so far by most accounts, but they'll be freshmen) I don't think that statement about Michigan will be too far off the mark opening day next year. Gonna be interesting.TheMoody1 wrote:That is what they said about Michigan's team in "07.Kgfish wrote:This will be UGA's best team in years.
Re: Georgia Game - What If
last year I believe there was only one game where we were held under 400 yds, we could move up and down the field, just had our problems in the redzone, if we could have been more efficient in the redzone I bet we would have averaged 45 a game. Next year if we can find a running back to replace Miller's productivity, (gonna be hard), and be much better in the redzone, this offense is going to be unstoppable. I think we are going to scare the hell out Georgia with the way we will move the ball, and I think its going to be a shootout, but dam, Georgia's offense is going to be really, really good, probably one of the best in the country. I know it way, way early to predict a score, but Im bored, so what the hell, Georgia 45, App, 34

I'll buy you a steak dinner if App scores 34 points on that defense. I like the optimism but running up and down the field on the likes of Western, Elon, and UTC is a far cry from doing it on a SEC defense.moehler wrote:last year I believe there was only one game where we were held under 400 yds, we could move up and down the field, just had our problems in the redzone, if we could have been more efficient in the redzone I bet we would have averaged 45 a game.
