2021 The Anticipation of a new football season
Just like all of us that bleed black n gold.....the closer the new football season gets the greater the anticipation. I'm so ready for college football to get back to norm and hopefully none of this past crap resurged.
Looking ahead I see another tough schedule as SB competition is on the rise and the M&Ms OOC.
As always, I would love to see us run the table and win every single game and go to 7-0 bowls.
Reality is... we have some different ? coming in to this season than recent past. Sometimes it's coaching changes, sometimes it player changes, and now even fan ? with this Covid crap.
Here is to winning them ALL! .... including The U Canes...... Thumping the green turd! ......Going postal on Coastal putting them back in place!......Smackdown on the Gnats!....Pouring water in the Cajun hot sauce!.......AND don't overlook Beat the everliving dog doody out of ELoan hanging 80!!!!!!!!

Re: 2021 The Anticipation of a new football season
We certainly have the talent to do it. Defense should be incredible again. Only losing one starter although a great one in Sherm. Regardless, our defense should be elite if we stay healthy.
On offense, we’re beyond loaded at the skill positions. Success this season really rides on 3 things in my opinion.
1. Staying healthy - We’re stacked across the board but a few injuries to key guys could really derail us.
2. QB1 - I don’t think it’s controversial to say this team will go as far as Chase takes us. We’ve got elite talent at RB, WR, and TE so if he can get the ball in their hands and limit turnovers, we should be in good shape.
3. Offensive Line - Really the only spot where we lost multiple starters, and great ones at that. This sort of ties in with #2 but if they can block well, sky is the limit.

LT - Hardy
LG - Daley
C - Hunter
RG - Helms
RT - Hodges
I have no insider info but this would be my guess and I’d say both tackles and center spots are set in stone.

A great OL makes a marginal QB look better to good. Not often does a great QB make up for a marginal OL. Let's hope the new kids getting their opportunity to start are great!!

If necessary, Jacob Huesman is more than qualified to take us to the same level and more.

Re: 2021 The Anticipation of a new football season
we're going to need one hell of a quarterback performance to beat Miami...I don't see that happening, and they are saying King will start the season opener against Alabama. If he is healthy, he ain't no joke.

I’d love to see Andre Goodman get a shot behind center. He strikes me as a dark horse for the position. But, I hear really good things about him.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 1:46 pmIf necessary, Jacob Huesman is more than qualified to take us to the same level and more.

I’d be interested to see him as well. I don’t think it would be until next year until Brice and Huesman are gone. However I’d be interested to see what the depth chart looks like after that with Shuler, Tabscott, Goodman.Apple@chin1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 2:42 pmI’d love to see Andre Goodman get a shot behind center. O-Line, O-Line, O-Line . . . they perform well, we are looking good for a very special season.

After watching Goodman's highlight clips he reminds me of another former South Carolina QB who did amazing things for the Black and Gold. Strong runner, strong arm, also looks to be an accurate passer. I know App recruited him as an "athlete"....hope he is in consideration at QB because he could be the "second coming."

One of the guys that he is throwing to in the video is a current 2022 target.

He looks good in some of the film I watched.....but I don't see 4.3 and he definitely doesn't have AE Houdini quickness. AE didn't have 4.3 speed either but he could go from neutral to 4th gear at the snap of a finger. AE was like trying to predict which way a June Bug was going to fly and fearless plus the southpaw threw defenders off and he had the quick release when needed with something on it.

Keep in mind a decent to good dual threat QB like we are accustomed improves an OL when it's built for it too. So we are facing a transition here in more ways than one.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 1:42 pmA great OL makes a marginal QB look better to good. Re: 2021 The Anticipation of a new football season
We haven’t run an offense like that for sometime. We have had guys like TL and ZT that could run, but we got away from the spread years ago. Goodman, should he win the QB job, will add an element of run for the defense to think about, but I don’t see us getting away from the zone running anytime soon.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:11 amKeep in mind a decent to good dual threat QB like we are accustomed improves an OL when it's built for it too.
