MBB @ Georgia Southern (2/26 6pm & 2/27 3pm)

Unread post by APPdiesel » Thu Feb 25, 2021 3:36 pm

Currently listed on the "next 4" schedule is a Friday night game @ Georgia Southern...I'm assuming this is correct and that the full schedule still hasn't been updated. If this information is inaccurate please let me know and I'll adjust the thread title accordingly.

App State 12-10 overall, 6-7 in conference. 3-6 on the road.
Georgia Southern 12-11 overall, 6-8 in conference. 7-3 at home.

Big games for the team momentum wise. Seeding probably less of a concern since the bye is a difficult reach, but going into Sunbelt tournament with seven straight losses isn't a great situation to be in. Hopefully Gregory is back with the team.

This season has definitely taken a turn for the worse as of late. It's kind of a shame too as we seemed to be building some decent momentum with getting some fans interested in basketball again considering the length of some of these basketball threads. Either way, finish out strong here with a 14-10 finish and make a tournament run. Beat Southern.

Fourteen day practice shutdown in the homestretch didn’t help but we can’t make excuses. We have to overcome. Oh yeah , and score more points than Southern.

Oh yeah, and score more points than Southern--twice! Maybe thrice as we might see 'em in the tourney.

It seems that our early and mid-season success was a mirage.

That’s about all that can be said today. Can’t even make a free throw. Glushkov trying to battle with a stronger post player is a joke. Southern has the best defense we’ve seen other than Tennessee, but we still look a step slower and very reactive instead of being the initiator, just like the last game against ga state. Maybe the covid layoff had a bigger impact than we’d like to admit.

Also, this team can’t afford to have James Lewis on the bench. He’s the only muscle we have down low.

No inside presence for our Mountaineers tonight. GA South doesn't look that big. Do we not have one post up player on our roster?

The death of the season was greatly exaggerated.

App up 7 with 25 seconds left. Good job never giving up, close this one out.

Listen, hard to watch first half and also 10 min into second half. I kept watching. Kerns knows what he’s doing. Went small ball and it worked. Let’s go men. Forrest sure had a quiet 24 and I’ll take it!
