You guys must realize that Trevor Lawrence wouldn't have made Duke significantly better this season - they had no defense, were always playing from behind and lost key guys almost every week including the opt-outs - Keep it real
Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say Trevor Lawrence would, in fact, have made Duke better.
You left out one key word.
Let me clarify:

Trevor Lawrence would have made Duke DRAMATICALLY better.

We're not seriously debating this, are we? It's not like Brice's harshest critics would hold him to the standard of being as good as the best college QB in years.

What are the OL stats like for Duke this past year? Like sacks given up, hurries, etc...just curious. The OL is going to have a major impact on how a QB plays as we all, of course know.
That was part of our problem this year in a couple of games prompting SC to intervene and challenge them.

Chase Brice to Boone!
This according to App State Mania.... “Brice will enroll at App State in January and, with the NCAA's decision to grant an extra season of participation to fall sport athletes due to pandemic conditions, potentially has two seasons of eligibility remaining.”

First off, welcome to the program, Chase. We all wish you lots of success.

On the OL discussion, I tend to think we'll be fine there, regardless of Hunter's decision. Not that I'm talking directly to coaches about it or anything. But we've got a deep and experienced group, not to mention the incoming freshmen who may be more college-ready than we're accustomed to. I'm optimistic.

The guy wants to be in Boone and the coaches obviously want him here. He will find out soon how great it is to be a Mountaineer!!!

Well let's look at defense first - Trevor doesn't play both ways -
Duke was 15th in the ACC in Points Allowed
Duke was 15th in Rushing Defense
Duke was 10th in Total Defense
Duke QB were sacked 31 times
Miami scored 48 on them
FSU - 56
GaT - 56
UNC - 56
NCS - 31
VaT - 38
UVA - 38
BC - 26
ND - 27
------ Common opponent Charlotte - Duke won 53-19

Look I think Trevor is a generational QB - I absolutely loved the hurting he put on ND - and yes a great QB will make a team better but he needs help - Duke didn't do much for Chase

The roster says there were 12 underclassmen OL this year, most of which were 6'3"+...Some of them probably aren't starters but I expect there is at least 3 guys who played this year who will do just fine.

If I were to hazard a guess, and this is a way too early guess; the starting five upfront may look like this. Hardy and Hodges on the outside, Daly, Hunter, and one of the RS Freshmen or Lindsay on the interior. Just a guess.

So....I’m assuming none of the QBs we have returning are ever going to start at App? Do we see some hitting the portal?

I could see whichever one is QB3 behind Brice and QB2 testing the waters.

We only have one returning, besides walk-ons.
