Re: Other games discussion 10/31
Ark St and UNCC performances should give us pause.
Those aren’t good teams.
I’m afraid Marshall may be the third best team on our schedule as well. CUSA is a dumpster fire.

Re: Other games discussion 10/31
The UNCC performance was sloppy, but there's been significant progress since then. Arkansas State is a solid offense and a pretty bad D, but we were also coming off of a 26 day hiatus, so there is no reason to diminish that performance. One game at a time. There's no team in the SunBelt that App can't beat. That's the whole fun of football....seeing if the App guys can make that happen. Troy has struggled, but they have athletes, so it shouldn't be a shocker that they had a good game. We have the meat of our schedule ahead of us. Ever week is both winnable and losable.
ND had the same score against a bad Georgia Tech team that we had against ULM yesterday. Stuff happens and the transitive property doesn't work in football.

Well I now believe Coastal is for real and their confidence is thru the roof. That imo will be our most challenging game.

I watched Coastal-Ga State and Louisiana- Texas State. Chants, Cajuns and Bobcats are good teams. A little weak on defense but can score points. We will need our A game for all.

Texas State, despite their record, are no pushover. If we sleepwalk in San Marcos like we did in Monroe, we will come away with an L.
We are entering the meat and cheese of our schedule and we will find out who we are rather quickly.

I agree. Texas State is dangers (despite their record) but should be a great transition game into the tougher part of our schedule. The D will be up for the Bobcats, and I don't think we might see some spice on offense if needed. Gotta show up ever week from here to the end!

Thanks for the clarification!TractorApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 8:09 pmAll backfield players can move forward, backwards, or sideways at the same time. As long as they all are set for at least one second together before the snap. No one can be moving forward at the snap. Only one back may be in motion at the snap and that has to be either side to side or backwards.

The whiner fans still using the trusty ole' "young program" excuse after the beat down from Duke this past weekend.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 7:07 pmCan we all stop trying to pump up UNCC every year after we beat them? They’re garbage, and apparently always will be.

Do we have any idea what year 49er football will no longer be considered a "young program" by their fan base?

I predict that miracle won't occur before the 2075 season. Not addressed to anyone in particular but as to ridiculing UNC-C...remember that Michigan laughed at us before we ditched them and we laughed at lowly Western Carolina in the Brakefield era yet they canned us a few times in the realm of us beating USC, Wake Forest, and East Carolina. Just saying, be careful who we poke fun at. Having said that, I enjoy kicking their buttskis as much as anyone.

Jeeze Cline, they're 0-3 against us, and 31-57 all time. They stink. They just got their butts handed to them by a (at the time) 1-5 Duke team that is the worst team in a bad ACC. They deserve all the (rightful) criticism they get.
Give 'em hell!

Re: Other games discussion 10/31
Geez, Bo. I'm not talking about the way they are now, but upsets do occur and mutts often become running dogs later on. And we, unfortunately have had our butts handed to us a few times. So what does that prove? Plus they are still in their infancy and a rinky dink in a media market dominated by the Panthers and the BobCats/Hornets/UNC-CH programs.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 2:27 pmJeeze Cline, they're 0-3 against us, and 31-57 all time. Do you sit around all the time trying to find things to twist that I post? Damn, it sure seems that way.
And you show your ignorance and pettiness with that Cline crap. Doesn't bother me anymore. I just consider the source.

Says every UNCC fan!!! I can't believe an App fan would even buy, much less spew this narrative anymore so I'll ask you:
What year can we no longer consider the 49ers "in their infancy" or a "young program"? (please be specific)
I mean, the last time I checked, the whiners beat App to FBS because their fans boasted gleefully about their CUSA invite prior to the Sun Belt calling App up, so from where I stand, App is the "younger" FBS team.

Re: Other games discussion 10/31
UNCC has a couple passionate but very ill-informed fans, at least from what I see posted by them.
They understandably expected a better showing versus Duke but seem to be very focused on their recruitment ranking on 247, and expect that to translate to on the field success or failure. Which, as we all know, recruiting rankings don’t mean a damn thing outside really the top ~25. Outside that it’s quite a crapshoot.
They are also totally focused on being P5, which makes zero sense to me. Sure it’s a big urban campus with funding, but so are Cincinnati, UCF, Houston, Memphis, Temple, UCONN, Boise, BYU, Colorado State, UAB, SDSU, SMU (to some degree), USF, FAU, FIU, Texas State, MTSU, North Texas, ODU, UTSA, Ga State, UTEP and more.
And nearly all the above have been doing it longer than they have, and have significant winning tradition. At best they’re 15th in line for what are like 5-6 spots.
I’m not sure why they are so focused on moving to a spot that doesn’t exist for them.

Re: Other games discussion 10/31
I dunno. No real excuses for them, however, they haven’t had a chance to build a tradition and a substantial following. Last game I was there, the UNC-C fans around me didn’t even know which conference they were in. No tailgating tradition. Some new programs hit the ground running... they didn’t. Too, they may never build a decent competitive program. I stand by most post.moonshine wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 4:01 pmSays every UNCC fan!!!
