Yep! My daughter is a freshman down there. Just texted me to come pick her up off the side of the road with her belongings in a trash bag since they just got kicked out.
Youngest is freshman in high school already in online school.

Am I missing something? 1000 people in the hospital with it in a state of 10 MILLION people. I graduated from App and maybe my math is different but this crap does not add up. Not saying there isn't a virus out there and at risk population gets worse symptoms or severe but damn we and our kids and our country need to have a life.
Agree or disagree we wear masks, social distance and wash our hands like we're told. So let's drag this thing out another year or so since we are going to limit the herd immunity.
On top of that we will be lucky to see a snap in football this season if many more schools go this route...forgot my priorities for a second there.

Sounds like your problem is you are applying too much common sense to the situation. However, I hate if for your daughter, it is probably more dangerous to kick those young 18 year olds girls out on the curb than have them stay in dorm.

I have a freshman daughter at State as well... they have until Sept 6 to vacate with all of their belongings. You have to sign up for a time to pick them up... at 30 minute intervals. I don't think I can move her out in 30 minutes. I have a feeling it's going to be crazy.

Yeah, my daughter is a sophomore there and ready for this....lives in a sorority house which, according to NCSU fraternities/sororities are THE reason for the outbreak. LOL!

I'm with you though...I'm not disputing that there is a virus, it's real, it's contagious, it has claimed lives. However, our continued response to that virus seems to be overkill. I'm just looking forward to November when a) a vaccine suddenly becomes available, b) miraculously it is 100% effective with no bad effects, and c) the virus mysteriously comes to an end.

For those in this thread who want to infect their own children: have you had Covid-19 or known someone who has?

yes, I know a dozen or so people who have had it. I've had it. My daughter and son have had it.

Inhaled steroid and ginger extract knocked it out in 12 hours just like all the other Asian countries

Glad you got lucky. Hope you didn’t infect anyone else.

You guys really should open a ginger shop or something.

Nothing has been said about "wanting" to infect our children or anyone else for that matter. Our family follows the 3w's that has been reccomended by our governor. It is hard to argue though in my humble opinion that college kids and younger are least risk population with this virus and what they are going thru is having much more of a psychological impact on them than physical.
I am responsible for over 1,500 essential workers spread across 9 states with my job. We have had several suffer with this virus and 5 have been hospitalized and all 5 had other issues, age, high blood pressure and diabetes. Fortunately all of them have recovered and returned to work.

Well there’s only one way to achieve “herd immunity” without a widely used vaccine.

I agree with the online classes thing at least for now, but it would have been better for students to stay on campus, get the virus, get rid of it and move on.

Yeah, I'm not sold on that. The virus did not spread on these college campuses from students being in class. These officials, whether it be at the college level, high school, middle school...are doing these kids a disservice with this remote learning BS.

Everyone must assume everyone has it. We must not fear and run from this virus but learn to live through this time.

If you are on Medicare and Social Security or have a major health condition - Quarantine yourself for the next year. No visitors.

If you you are younger than 65 and don’t have a major health condition, America needs you. You need to keep a mask on outside your home, wash your hands and get back to work, school and life. We have a country that needs us. Stop shutting down schools and businesses. All schools and businesses are essential.

Nah....fda/pharmaceutical companies would just shut it down.

Even though there is a NIH study on ginger extract curing an almost identical lung infection. Simple cure cost $5. They want one that cost $1000’s

Pretty sure it all comes down to liability. Parents say “let them live their lives” but also “if my kid gets critically sick on your campus I’m suing your asses off for negligence”.

Universities can’t take the financial risk. So they send everyone home.
