Just reading this made me think of the scoop and score and now I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. I'm glad Thomas is officially on the Davey O' Brien QB watch list, but he should be ranked much higher than Howell. Howell is no where near a top 10 QB at all. Shouldn't even be in the top 25 IMO. Thomas should.

Jay cutler had a terrible college record. Matt Cassel wasn't the starter. Elway had a losing record. I'm sure there are more examples. College record isn't the main thing scouts look at.

Trent Dilfer has a SB ring and Dan Marino does not.
Who would you rather have as your quarterback?

My gold and black glasses filter out this type logic. All I see is App winning. They'll get another shot next year, until then, everything Gold is better than everything baby blue.

I believe the next one is in 2022. Howell could be gone by then as an early draft entry.

Again, if you want to make the argument that Zac is underappreciated on lists like this, by all means do. But focusing on Howell just because you hate the team he plays for undercuts your case.

Re: I don't get it...
You are correct in that the Heels were always making a comeback last year. (and I am happy with ZT as our QB).pop5app wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:55 pmThe stats are not any better for Howell. He threw for more yards because his team was always behind partially because of him. Last cheat quarterback hasn’t proven he can play on Sundays yet , why should I believe Howell will. AND Zack led is team to 13 wins. The argument can be made that Zack is better.
However, if you look at the stats:
Howell had a 400 yard passing game, 4 more 300 yard passing games and a 294 yard game. He had two 4 TD games and a 5 TD game.
ZT had ONE 300 yard game. He did have two 4 TD games.
A lot of that may have been the product of the offensive calls. ZT had 4 games with 17 or fewer passing attempts. The only time Howell had less than 24, was against Mercer, when they were up 42-0 at half time.
Zac is a better dual threat QB. Howell had one rushing TD, averaged 0.4 yards per attempt and netted 35 yards for the season. Zac averaged 4.2 yards per attempt, netting 440 yards and 7 TD's.
Howell has 7 wins as a starter. ZT has 23 wins.

Re: I don't get it...
Both are very good qbs but Howell definitely gets the nod in a 1-1 comparison. Thomas has significant practice and game experience over Howell so give Howell at least another year for a better assessment. They may be seriously talking the Heisman for Howell in 2021 and/or 2022.

I don’t believe anyone has said that they hate cheat. The gist of this whole thing is that the “argument could be made” that Zack is as good. It can be made and he is as good or better. And now I’ll say it, I hate cheat!EastHallApp wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 9:03 amAgain, if you want to make the argument that Zac is underappreciated on lists like this, by all means do. Well, no, the OP was not nearly as measured as you suggest, but never mind that.pop5app wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:26 amI don’t believe anyone has said that they hate cheat. They don't have to say "I hate cheat." That's the point. If you're repeatedly triggered by the slightest positive attention for UNC, then you're giving away the game.
Obviously people can post whatever opinions they want on a message board. The obsession with UNC just gets a little embarrassing after a while.

I guess you know what’s in my mind better the I. However, I take exception with any quarterback being hyped over Zack. ( ok I’ll give you Trevor Lawrence) I could care less where he plays. I simply believe using whatever metric you wish Zack stacks up pretty good. He wins, too. Which is why we play the game... to see who wins! As for cheat I would not say I’m obsessed with them. Ultimately I do despise cheat and everything about them.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 12:14 pmWell, no, the OP was not nearly as measured as you suggest, but never mind that.pop5app wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:26 amI don’t believe anyone has said that they hate cheat. And I said this earlier - if this is really about feeling ZT is overlooked, maybe consider some of these names on that list:pop5app wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 1:18 pmI guess you know what’s in my mind better the I. - Chase Garber, Cal - Has the same number of yards and fewer TDs in TWO years as a starter as Zac had in 2019 alone.
- Bryce Young/Mac Jones, Alabama - Maybe they're both great, but shouldn't you have to be a starter to be included on this list?
- Kellen Mond, aTm - Here's the description for him from that article: "Kellen Mond enters 2020 with 34 starts under his belt, but not a whole lot to show for it. Texas A&M has been a middle-of-the-road team as Jimbo Fisher assembles a program to his liking in College Station. Mond has shown flashes of excellence throughout his career, but sometimes struggles to make the routine plays." And that's what the people who rank him in the top 15 think of him!
- Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State - 2,000 yards, 16/11 TD/INT as a freshman.
- Ian Book/Kyle Trask/Tanner Morgan - Nothing against these guys, they're all good. But they're basically solid game manager types, and all in the top 7.
But instead of even mentioning any of those guys, we've got two pages of grievance about Howell, a likely future 1st round pick who is universally considered one of the best QBs in the nation.

Really? You Are the one that keeps this going. I’ll repeat, the argument CAN be made that Zack is as good as Howell. Zack wins, as well, and he doesn’t have the press coverage that the cheaters do. The thread didn’t say, who was going to be the better pro. Someone could almost think you are a closet cheat fan. The molecules that make up the more odoriferous parts part of flatulence are about 50 times smaller than the smallest virus. 0.4 nm vs 20 nm for a virus at the smaller end of the scale. SARS-CoV-2 is around 100 nm so we are looking at a size difference of 250x.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 10:51 amIf a fart can pass through Wranglers how can a virus not slip through a mask?![]()
There are about 4 ways a mask can divert particles, even if the particles are smaller than the pore size of the mask but it would seem the fart smell is small enough to pass through while SARS-CoV-2 is much to large.
Science baby!
