National coach of the year nominee? C’mon man!
Just saw our recently departed is up for this. The sportscaster on WXII even cleared his throat with a smirk when reporting it. Satt must be laughing in disbelief.

Hell, In one season Drink took Satts players and what Satt built and parlayed it into more than Satt is being paid. Satt must be laughing in disbelief.

I know people say you never know when the chance will come and you have to strike when the iron is hot but had Satt stayed one more year and done this I bet he would be getting 5M a year easy from someone. He would have showed he could build a program, sustain culture, and turn a G5 school into a regularly ranked team who lasts in the polls. I really expected Drink to get a mega deal from someone after year two. This is why I want someone like Clark who still stay this coming year because we could go 13-1 or 14-0 and be in this position with another rising coach.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 6:58 pmHell, In one season Drink took Satts players and what Satt built and parlayed it into more than Satt is being paid. I will bet Satt is not laughing. He is probably thinking he needs to renegotiate his contract to about 5M a year and he got screwed now.

He did a nice job.
Best coach in the country seems like he would’ve beaten Georgia Southern at home. But that’s none of my business...

Actually Satt showed what he could do at Louisville and exceeded expectations there. He also showed what he had built here at home. I am not knocking Drink but I am not sure the worst coach in the country would have gone 12-1 with the talented team of 2019.

Dumb....
DrinkQuitz didn’t even win Sun Belt Coach of the Year.
Satterfield was ACC Coach of the Year!
Nuff Said.

The blow out loss to Kentucky kind of put a damper on what was one heck of a first year by Satt. If he continues to have success he will be taken care of financially (more than he already is now). Louisville will definitely loosen the purse strings to keep a good coach.

The Louisville AD has been on video saying he would do anything, repeat, ANYTHING...to keep his new football coach.
I am sure Satterfield heard a ringing, repeating Ca Ching $$$$.
He deserves what he gets. And he will be well compensated now, and even more so if he continues the build.

You guys are getting ridiculous.
If Drinkwitz was still the coach of App State right now, every single one of you would be hee-hawing about how well deserved this was and that he should win it.
I’m not happy with how he left either but cmon.

WRONG. I would be happy for him had he stayed, but at the same time I would not think he deserves it. He needs to recruit a couple years and continue winning in my book. Like someone said. He didn’t even win Sunbelt coach, and I think the right coach did.booneboy92 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:00 amI’m with ya man!Without him leaving, not only would nobody be bitching, but they would be wondering why this nomination isn’t on the front page of Sports Illustrated. Re: National coach of the year nominee? C’mon man!
BTW.... Does he realistically deserve to be in the running for this, much less win it? Probably not, but it still wouldn’t be an issue for anybody if he were still here. But wanted everybody to know... if I, personally, chime in on any of the negativity toward Drink, it’s out of sheer, ungodly, hateful jealousy!!!booneboy92 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:00 amI’m with ya man!Without him leaving, not only would nobody be bitching, but they would be wondering why this nomination isn’t on the front page of Sports Illustrated. Re: National coach of the year nominee? C’mon man!
This is still good for our program as we're still being talked about by the elites in the college football world. Satt getting national attention as ACC coach of the year and now this award with Drink...the more our program is talked about the better.
I hope he gets it...anything that keeps us on the national stage helps...yes...build our brand.

If he wins, will he talk about how important the award is, then immediately discard it in favor of a more lucrative award?
(Kidding. Good for him. Glad our former stepdad is getting kudos. If he wins, I hope he uses the opportunity to shout out the players and program.)
