We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Coach Moore
A little saddened and surprised no reference to thank Coach Moore today. GSU recognized Erk.

Re: Coach Moore
It absolutely galls me to say this, but in many ways, GA Southern is doing things better than us right now. They revere Erk (as does darn near everyone in GA) and we should be holding Coach Moore up in the same manner.

Jerry must have really pissed off Charlie Cobb with his post "retirement" commentsAppinATL wrote:It absolutely galls me to say this, but in many ways, GA Southern is doing things better than us right now. Re: Coach Moore
Coach Moore leaving is fairly recent and bringing him up could have drawn the questions that direction versus where they should have been directed.
Erk also has coached last 20 years ago.
We didn't honor Kidd, Duggins, or Sparky today either.

Re: Coach Moore
Kidd, Duggins and Sparky were not nearly as important to App State as Jerry Moore has been.
Erk, regardless of how long ago, was what put them on the map too.

Re: Coach Moore
Look I love what Moore did for App and what he means to App football. I really hope he comes to Kidd Brewer next year.
You appear not to understand the importance of the great coaches prior to the Moore era. Go talk to a "Dugggins Boy" and let them know they didn't help build the foundation of Appalachian football the. Go look at what Moore stepped into from the Woods era. Moore is a football legend, but don't discount the others so quickly.
EVERY coach and player helped Appalachian reach today's accomplishment, congrats to all of them!

Re: Coach Moore
I think its just too early and still a really ackaward sitution. If Cobb or Peacock would have praised Moore, than someone would have said that we were patranizing Moore, and they were not really sincere, they couldnt win in this sitution. To be honest, I would have love for Moore to issue a brief statement congraduating the move up. It would have been a very classy thing to do, and maybe would have starting mending fences between himself and the school.
Re: Coach Moore
I think there are things that would cause a lot of App fans to not worship Moore so much if they had followed him the last several years.

Re: Coach Moore
we'll disagree on this one cause maybe a handful know about duggins boys but the entire country knows about michigan. sparky left after a few years for sc...jerry had a rough go in the mid 2000's but without a doubt, had there not been 3 championships and michigan, we'd be like furman...a blip on the creen fading away. our fan base grew exponentially in the last 7 years...and without giving any disregard to others...theres only one coach who deserves that credit...not only for his coaching but his acts of kindness and humility with both fans and foes.Saint3333 wrote:Look I love what Moore did for App and what he means to App football. Re: Coach Moore
Sounds like our fans need a history lesson Appalachian football didn't start in 2005.
I sure hope the fans that jumped on late stay.

How so? CC is here for as long as he desires unless we fall on our face in FBS.StorminASU wrote:Who could blame him? Better not say that here all the lemmings, will tell you what a minor impact Moore had had on football here.sixtoes9134 wrote:A little saddened and surprised no reference to thank Coach Moore today. GSU recognized Erk.

Re: Coach Moore
Bringing up might have posed a question I wondered...if his dismissal was at all related to his resistance to us moving up.Saint3333 wrote:Coach Moore leaving is fairly recent and bringing him up could have drawn the questions that direction versus where they should have been directed.

Either way...I think it's still too fresh a wound to touch. Erk was honored...but he's also dead & being honored by a new administration. The last one dealt with him still trying to exert his influence on the program, throwing a fit because his son was fired, etc.
Did they honor CPJ? Without him, you don't have the last 2 titles for them...or Jeff Monken as a hire. I honestly don't think Southern is bucking for this move if their last title was in '90.
Re: Coach Moore
It goes both ways, the program had been a lot better at times before Moore came.
We played mediocre football for years and years under Moore.
There are so many untold stories that we just do not want to talk about.
Yes sometimes we had a good record, but look at who we were playing.

Re: Coach Moore
Time and distance will heal this gents. It was too soon, and Jerry was not for moving up anyway. Today was about Appalachian State. I have no doubt Jerry left his mark on our program, and will be recognized at the right time. Today was not the right time or place.GoApps70 wrote:It goes both ways, the program had been a lot better at times before Moore came.

Re: Coach Moore
Ole Coach Moore screwed the pooch with his temper tantrum at the end of the season. It was his attempt to strong arm CC and KP in to bringing him back and stopping the FBS move. Until he decides he wants to apologize for going to the media and running his yap, then I'm not sure he has a place in our future. What he did could have been VERY detrimental to the University.sixtoes9134 wrote:A little saddened and surprised no reference to thank Coach Moore today. GSU recognized Erk.

Right now the only thing preventing Jerry Moore Appreciation Day from happening is Jerry Moore.
