We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I think Coastal presents the biggest threat to beat us this year, UL the 2nd. If we can go 1-0 for the next 2 games, I think we will win the East as we'd have our two toughest opponents behind us. Most of our tougher conference opponents after that are home games and Troy at the end of the season isn't as scary as it would have been last year. S. Alabama, Texas St, and Ga State SHOULD be wins and think we take it to Ga. South really good after the disaster last year. We have 10 days each to prepare for both Louisiana games, so that will be an advantage, too. Can't afford to lose our first conference game, though.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I really don't think there is any team in the SunBelt that will beat App if we play our "A" game, but the conference has more teams this year who are dangerous if we mis-step. There's no guarantee of running the table (never is) but we control our own destiny. Hopefully injuries don't become a factor.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I think they are different threats. I think UNC is better than coastal and it was on the road...so I'd label that one as a tougher game. But coastal has shown a phenomenal offense, and though they arnt obsessed with us like Charlotte...I'd say we are target #1 for them. I've seen that comment made multiple times and in their short history they dont lose a ton...but are 0-5 vs us. I'm grateful this game is at the rock. I say we win by 14 in a tough one....I say 50-50 game if we played in Conway.

Re: Coastal Carolina
They have an improved offense but you have to look at the level of competition in which they scored those points. They were decent against EMU, who appears to be very good, but not spectacular. They have players that can execute an offensive scheme, but we represent a step up in defensive talent to go along with an offense that has no problem matching them point for point.

Re: Coastal Carolina
Is this the same crowd that was worried about ETSU? Coastal may be better, but they aren't going to beat us.

Coastal is improved and will be ready. This looks to be a 4 quarter game. App Nation must give our all for the Mountaineers. Loud and Proud every down on family weekend. Show the parents what it means to be a passionate App State Student/Alum/Fan. Defend the Rock! 1-0. Go Apps!

This is Coastal's #HATEWEEK according to the twitterverse. That says all you need to know about how the Chants view the game this Saturday. They want this W badly as they are 0-fer against App so far.

Need to make a statement to the sun belt that were still the king. I smell a blowout coming, honestly.

Coastal going to have to recruit better for a few years in a row before they can actually beat APP. The stars matter.

The Beach Chickens are good this year. Drink wasn’t just CoachSpeaking in his presser. We have to play very well to win.

This is where I feel Drink is great. He does CoachSpeakTM, but he's also genuine and sincere. It plays well into the 1-0 each week type of mentality.

Re: Coastal Carolina
Worried about this one too. I was also worried about UNC-__.
It really depends how our D plays. If they play like they did against Charlotte we lose. If they play better than they did in Chapel Hill we win.
We will score I think but can we stop them.

Re: Coastal Carolina
The only thing that concerns me about this game is if our guys have a big win hangover. I sense Coastal has improved but pound for pound they don't have the talent we have in our receiving corps, backfield, OL and QB like we have...OK I could have just said offense.
On defense, we'll just have to release the Kraken again...

Re: Coastal Carolina
I recall, in about 2006, the Chants came to Boone for a playoff game. We made a nice banner to welcome them to Boone and hung it from the wall directly in front of section 111. They ran out onto the field and immediately a coach came over an ripped it down. I was disappointed. It was only up for about 10 minutes.
Of course, it said "Choke the Chickens", so maybe they didn't like the message.

Re: Coastal Carolina
I agree, It takes a few years to build a perennially strong program. UNCC, and the SunBelts on our schedule may be improved over last year where we beat them pretty good., but they have not recruited on the level as APP - relatively speaking. We have recruited and are built for what we are G5. We aren't built with the quality depth to sustain playing P5 every week, yet, even though it is markedly better than not long ago. Just look at G5 UCF-self-proclaimed national champs the last 2 weeks. Two P5s in a row, 1 win -1 loss. App is a tough, veteran team that has experienced winning and know how to win, our last opponent doesn't know how to win. Had we had to go to Columbia this Saturday we might be in trouble. That's the arguing point G5s should never be in the playoffs in the current design 4 or 8 teams, quality depth. We are the best of the SunBelt with Louisiana a not too distant second.Rick83 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 12:09 pmThe only thing that concerns me about this game is if our guys have a big win hangover. Re: Coastal Carolina
Their qb numbers are ugly. Hopefully our dbs are kicking their chops. I suspect we will be daring this guy to beat us
