Tough way to end an "on -the-rise" season but #8 seed ULM has eliminated the #5 seed Apps from the SBC Tourney. Plenty of reasons exist to believe next season will show even greater improvement in a tougn Sun Belt Conf.
Hats off to Coach Hoerner and her team and to two all-SBC players. Following a historic season for Appalachian State softball, juniors Kenzie Longanecker and Keri White were named to the All-Sun Belt First and Second teams respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Longanecker, a junior from Sanford, Fla., becomes the first Mountaineer ever to be named to the All-Sun Belt First Team . She is one of only three pitchers named to the first team.

All in all, I'm counting this season as a success for softball. The difference between being picked dead last in the conference and then finishing number 5 in the regular season is amazing. I'm looking forward to next year's softball team already!
