UTA shuts out App 5-0 In game 1.

Bayley Morton hit 3 home runs in that last game. UTA was the stronger team this time. The good news is that, as we win more, our recruiting will improve which will improve wins per season and so on. We have one more series against a Coastal team that, so far, is statistically just ahead of App on the season (just behind in conference). I can see us taking all three or dropping all three. The good news is that our team that was picked by all coaches to come in dead last in the conference will finish the regular season no lower than 6th. That's a real step up.

App beats Coastal for win #31 on the season tying an all-time program record!

We're locked into the 5-seed in the Sun Belt Tournament, which means a sudden-death game on Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET versus the 8-seed in San Marcos. Win and we're in the double elimination and will have to play at 4 p.m. versus the 4-seed.

Regular season finishers #9 and #10 stay home and watch the conference tournament online. We were preseason #10 ... regular season #5 with 31 regular season wins to tie a program record set in SoCon days. Regardless of what happens in San Marcos, this has been a successful season for App State softball.

Team falls 2-0. Really a tale of two seasons. While there was a nice turn around, the team limped home once the schedule got tougher. The future is bright but the end is disappointing.

Spot on! A good season overall but beginning with the Ragin Cajuns' sweep in Boone, the Apps finished the season 4-12. They never recovered from that tough two-run loss to UL in the first game of the series. Longanecker pitched her heart out for 7 innings but the game slipped away. Like the team, she hasn't been the same since, either.

Unhappy about the outcome but happy for this team. They really stepped up this season.

disappointing conference tournament but I'm very proud of the progress. The schedule was heavily back-end weighted. I wish it had been a better finish, but progress is progress and this was a HUGE step! Congratulations to the young ladies of Appalachian Softball!

I'm fine with it. For our high-content sports like FB and MBB I don't think it makes much sense, logistically or topically. For Olympic sports, it makes more sense. BB and SB have their moment where a "Megathread" can be cumbersome but for the others, and this isn't a knock on any specific sport, the megathread concept certainly works. I'm fine with it for BB & SB, especially given the current Cabin interest in both sports - should that level of discussion dramatically increase as both sports continue to ascend in the Belt (hopefully) then maybe we should break a sport away from the megathread, otherwise, for the regulars, it makes things pretty simple. If you're a newcomer and you just happen to "come aboard" during the middle of a season and are unaware of the way things are organized, then all bets are off...
