I love my Hornets and Panthers, but I will only get overly emotional about App State. I go to a few road games a year, it’s a blessing that I was not in Statesboro tonight. A blessing for myself and any foul mouthed GS fan....

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
Fact of the matter ASU is very young. Most of these guys will be around for 2 more years. ASU has lost ZT, and probably one of the better linebackers in the Belt in this game, very hard to overcome. Im baffled how ZT can take a forearm to the face and neck area and there is no call. But this is college football. Just remember this Georgia Southern stadium was empty 2 years ago. I was there and sat where ever I wanted to sit. It will be empty once these coaches move on in a few years. By the way EF200 will disappear next year like he has for the past 3 years. Good night all. On to Coastal. God speed to a fast recovery for ZT.

We got our ass handed to us tonight , in every facet of the game.Mentally , physically, no excuses. Penalties and turnovers are on us .We made a lot of mistakes ,they played a textbook game.Zac going down set the table,GS ate our lunch.

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
The sky is not falling. Tonight sucked and hurts bad right now. We are the 3rd youngest football team in the FBS remember. We just got ranked for the first time ever. This season is not over. I cannot think of much else that could have gone wrong for App in this game tonight. The stink still has to play Troy and 3 other conference games. Hopefully they lose one or 4 of those games. IF we get our crap together, and play like we know we can, we can still win the division (with a little help). I have not given up on the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Boone on 1Dec18.

This stings because when you come from where we have come and a G5 you feel like you have to grab the opportunity first time it knocks.

I’m the same way. Yeah, when the Panthers lose, I’m mad, but get over it quickly. App, on the other hand...CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:31 pmYep I consider myself an old man now but I admit like a little kid with emotion over App football.....my other sports teams does not phase me in the slightest.appstatealum wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:09 pmI love my Hornets and Panthers, but I will only get overly emotional about App State. When asked, I have put it this way...I didn’t graduate from Carolina Panthers.

Uh? Although I've been an Eagle fan for many years, this is the first time posting on Yosefs. You guys were tough and into the game throughout. If Zac wasn't injured, I'm sure y'all would have been more competitive. We've been down two years straight but like every Eagle fan knows. It's unacceptable and only time will determine our revival. We're back and it's about time! We will see y'all next game and good luck the rest of the season.

Thank God my kids were in bed since it was a school night, I absolutely lost my marbles. My wife is no better (she is an alum too), so there is no way to calm each other down. She sensed it coming early when EVERYTHING was going wrong and promptly sent the kids to bed.AppinVA wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:35 pmI’m the same way. Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
We got our butts beat tonight. Obviously the injuries and penalties didn’t help, but GS looked like the better team tonight.
I think we are still a good team. Hopefully we learn from this and move forward.

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]

I admire your optimism but what you're asking would require a major miracle. Both teams have four games remaining in the regular season--Apps two home, two away...Iggles three home, one away. If App wins out (7-1) and if the Iggles lose at Troy (7-1) then the Iggles would win the tie-breaker (over the Apps) by a mere 20 points. I love my Apps but to ask them to reel off four wins in a row while hoping the Iggles lose at home to either ULM, Coastal or Ga State is downright unrealistic. The Black & Gold need more than just a little help.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:16 pmThe sky is not falling. Tonight sucked and hurts bad right now. I'm leaving Troy pretty much out of this discussion, but they have the toughest road to a championship with games against Tx State (home) and ULL (home) & Ga Sou and App (away).
At least, Troy and Ga Sou control their own destiny. The Apps--not so much.

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
The football gods are fickle. We've had a five day run where we have been mentioned on virtually every outlet that covers the game. Folks that have ignored us in the past couldn't say enough good things about us. After getting whipped on national TV, we will disappear from the discussions as quickly as we appeared. I don't know if all the media attention played a role in our preparation, mindset, and performance or not, but, for this season the odds are we are now playing for pride. The national spotlight is gone for this season.

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
When opportunity presents itself, APPears it's always squandered. As someone else said earlier, this has to be one of the worst losses in App State Football history and it happened in front of a National audience. There's still a lot of football left this season, and this team needs to pick themselves up and press on. The loss last night is on the entire team (from coaching to the water boy) and how they respond as a team will define their season. "Either get busy living, or get busy dying"

I'd put it right there with the VMI loss in 1994 and the playoff loss to Maine in the conversation of the most embarrassing performances in App history.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:39 amWhen opportunity presents itself, APPears it's always squandered. Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
Please don't take me wrong, we have come a long way and have a very successful program. However, it seems that every time we have an opportunity to "turn the corner" we fail. Maybe "opportunity" (whatever form it takes) will present itself again soon and we will take advantage.
Meanwhile, "back at the ranch", Watauga plays Freedom tonight for first place in the conference. Here's wishing the Pioneers the best!!!

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
How this team responds to this public flogging will reveal it's character. The worst part of it all is that once again, here we are having to pull for other teams to help us do what we weren't able to do ourselves. Maybe one day we will take care of our own business in the conference. Until then, we need to do a much better job preparing our backups to go. With the shots Zac had been taking since Ark State, it was only a matter of time until it was "next man up".
Go APP. Win Out.

Re: Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern [Gameday Thread]
I suppose it shouldn't sting this much the next morning after, especially knowing our starting QB got knocked out on the first drive. Would Zac had made a difference? Were we just all set for a let down? I've seen too many good things from this team to think that this game should define us.
I'll be in Coastal this coming weekend, and oh boy, we better beat them in a way that will have the cops called.

FAMU too. This one felt different though, can't remember losing a key player on offense and defense in the first five minutes of a game, not to mention so many strange bounces of the football.appst89 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 5:14 amI'd put it right there with the VMI loss in 1994 and the playoff loss to Maine in the conversation of the most embarrassing performances in App history.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:39 amWhen opportunity presents itself, APPears it's always squandered. GS only had 40 more yards than we did and our QB play was just bad.
