Wake was probably glad Lambert left
Lambert was Wake's Charlotte area lead recruiter (highly likely how he swung the UNCC gig) and actually recruited me coming out of high school. He came off boring and lame then, so I can fully understand how they haven't been able to recruit well in the Charlotte area. My dad literally was so bored with Lambert he went and sought out App's recruiters since I had limited exposure with them coming out of high school. So in a way Lambert put me in the place I love so much and has shaped me. They seem to get a good amount of athletes from the area, but they all have FCS offers for the most part, not a sound strategy for being an FBS program.

Rewatching game now. Rosinski says we has a nice crowd here but way more niner fans. Not sure what he was looking at. We had more than 1/3 of the stadium. Nice job by App crown booing Ref for mispronunciation. Clt Observer made mention of it. Oh and nicest 15,000 seat stadium I’ve been in. :D
I got a laugh out of that. One guy said we brought a nice crowd then the other guy IMMEDIATELY tried correcting him.

We had 40% of the crowd. App fans had 4 lower sections on the east sideline, the entirety of the temporary seating, and 2 endzone sections. The rest was all Charlotte.

We played very well but not perfect and that is a great thing. The guys played a very smooth game until there was no doubt left.

3 areas to improve:
1. Kickoff coverage
2. 3rd down defensive efficiency
3. Run blocking
I would add a 4th> Tackling
Tackling? We held their team to 200 yards of offense and it would have been less except for a bogus face mask call, another bad call on a QB slide, and a legitimate low hit on the QB that negated an interception.

We did have a db whiff on a sack, but I almost think he pulled up because of how they protect the QB's today.

Our tackling was solid against Penn State and I didn't see any major issues last night. I do think our play at LB will get better. It has been a strength for us in recent years, and we just have less experience at the position currently (which seems to come into play when the QB tucks the ball and runs.

My assessment....App State fans stood and yelled for the plays on the field. UNCC fans stood and yelled for the free T-shirts. Proud to be a Mountaineer.
Kickoffs = free T-Shirts. So, they get at least one chance per game. Our fans showed up and made it a road game for their offense. Hennigan's Punt Return into a sea of App fans was a thing of beauty.

I put our crowd at about a third which is impressive at any road venue.Sound level was four to one in our favor.Yes , they were going to make us throw and we did-perfectly. I loved the big plays , we’ve lacked that ability in recent years,no longer. As the O line comes together that ability will really set up the run game.A couple of ball possession errors at the goal line , and the short kick offs were a bit frustrating but that’s about it. Good point on holding them to 200 yards.Holding any FBS squad to that is solid , and on the road at that.On a different note , a lot of talk about conference realignment with some people of influence from both camps. Finally I’m not crowing about UNCCH . Our coach is definitely on their radar..

One more thing that stood out to me was that I don’t remember us having the first cramp.

I think 1/3 is too conservative. We were at least 50%. I was talking to a lot of App guys that got tickets from Charlotte folks and wore "neutral" out of respect for the free tickets. The end zone was mainly App Fans, the upper temp bleachers were all Apps, visitor corner all Apps, UNCC student section was about a quarter or less Apps, Home side was around 1/3 App Fans. It was a lot clearer early in the 4th that we were around 50% of the crowd.

Think about it, the average less than 10k most weeks, they had 19k+ for this one.... no way we were less than 50%.

I had one ticket I was going to give away to the Student Yosef Club. I never could hook up with the SYC president so just before entering I asked a random young male that looked student age if he needed a ticket. He was wearing App wear and he said he needed a ticket.

I handed the ticket to him and did not ask for any money. The look on his face and the size of his eyes. It was like watching little kids on Christmas morning.

I have been given free tickets on here before and I generally gave a bit of money to the YC to offset the gift. This was a chance to pay it forward. I asked him to yell so loud he had to voice as payment. I think he thanked me about 6 times before he walked away.

I was at a Phillies baseball game this summer and guessed the attendance within 100 (35,800) so that makes me an expert on all things guessing attendance now. Just looking at colors UNCC had the bottom home side the away side except our section near the field house. I was in the end zone but from what I could see we have 70-80 % of that and I would think 80-85% of the top temp seats (with a goon many of open seats up there and even in the end zone.) I would say 1/3 based on shirt color is about right but if what you said is true then your numbers could be correct. We certainly had the App State chant going very well. No way the students and coaches on both sides could not tell, and at the start of the 4th quarter we owned KBS South. I tried getting a Kidd Brewer South chant going in the end zone but it did not take and may not have sounded good in a stadium anyway. The ASU chant would have a cleaner sound. And the App--South was easy to hear and respond.

I had the birthday package and for every TD I held up the Birthday card sign the 49ers gave me and wished myself a happy birthday.

By the start of the second half their student section was 90% empty. By the end of the 3rd quarter it was 99% black and gold. Booing the ref was hilarious. If their quarterback #17 isn’t really sore today I’m stunned. They hit one downfield pass of note due to a blown assignment. We could have easily hung over 50 on them. Talent gap is huge.

Obvious to all: (1) Sutton is fast. That was a great 70-80 yd. foot race to the end zone. Hennegan began can pick 'em up and out 'em down, too. (2) Our QB is as accurate as I've seen. Always on the money even laying it in there vs tight coverage. We've had good QBs for decades, I think. (3) The AD at UNC-C, Hill, wants to play every year. Of course he does, we filled their place to record numbers. And if you took a good look, obviously asualum did, we had close to half in ASU gold. The blue line was packed with our fans. (4) The opponent has a great kicker and an elusive QB. (5) Charlotte has a nice place to play. Easy to get in and out, plenty of room for maneuvering about.
Note: Scary when Duck went down on his head. I thought he was done the way his neck bent and told my wife he wouldn't be back (concussion protocol). He was back in a play or two later.

How about the job Shemar Jean-Charles (#8) did in the 2nd half. Duck played very little after his injury!!! Brody Barrett made some impact plays as well. Our depth and conditioning was glaringly apparent.

Is the game out on Youtube? If so, could someone post a link? I can't find anything except highlights.

Great job App fans! The players really appreciated our taking over that place. After the team broke from their meeting at midfield after the game was over, 3 players made a beeline over to the crowd in GA and thanked everybody and posed for pictures, etc...
The GA (Birthday) section got so loud UNCC jumped twice because they couldn’t hear the QB in their own stadium!! Classic.
speaking of the birthday section, I thought uncc was supposed to announce birthdays at the game. I suppose they shut it down after they realized App fans were buying all of the tickets and that Yosef and Grady Davis' birthdays were that day.

They did them all at once, near the end of the game if I recall, Grady was not on the video board... lol

It was at the end of halftime I think. There were nine or ten names listed. I was listed and my name was mentioned. I did think more than 10 bought the package.

To their credit they called me on my cell around 5 pm to check in on me and mention a gift bag. They gave me the wrong location but I found the location. They said and texted Sec 102 and it was section 112. The gift bag was a UNCC lunch bag/box, season ticket info, a plastic grill apron with 49er logo and a birthday card. It was nice actually and I will give it away to a student that has an interest in UNCC. I held the happy birthday card up after every TD and gave myself a huge "Happy Birthday!"

They did make a b-day announcement and put about 9 names up on the board. I counted roughly 12-13 sections of App fans throughout the stadium. Here's some over head shots: https://twitter.com/NelsonAerials/statu ... 6779685888 My wife, who is not really a football fan, stated they had a nice stadium but that it was bland and reminded her of a bank. We also found it hilarious that the on the field 9er "hype man" told their fans to be louder than our fans. Flyovers are always cool! 8-)

Thought it was a great game plan by the staff to get a lot of the young guys quality reps. Multiple freshman got PT, especially at LB. Based on what I saw, I thought the offense moved a bit better with Garrison at RG but definitely glad to see we have some serviceable depth at OL. This is hands down the best WR corp, top to bottom, I have ever seen assembled at App.

As the band Fun would sing, "we are young!" This team/program has the ability to make some real noise across the college football landscape over the next couple of seasons. The offense will lose JM and Heath while the D will have to replace Stout, Godwin, Flory, Exford and Hayes. If the young guys continue to get some quality PT and film to learn from, watch out!

His name was on the screen, but the announcer repeated the previous last name (i think it was Moss) instead of saying Moore.
