Does Brown have children close to grandparents, and at a school he would like for them to graduate from? Satt has a few things keeping him in Boone it seems.

And I don't mind that one bit.

PAY SCOTT. PAY NATE. Scott has history, loyalty, and kids in school that are keeping him in Boone. Nate has none of those things. Show him the money.

Right now, nearly half of our scholarship requirements are funded from the "operating" funds of the athletic department. In other words, Yosef donations fund only about 55% of our scholarship needs.

If we want flexibility to increase coaching salaries, we MUST increase the annual giving to Yosef to be able to free up those operating funds. I have no doubt that Doug understands fully the connection between competitive compensation packages and talent retention. He cannot offer funds the athletic department does not have.

So ... if you want the best coaches to stay, help fund the scholarships for our athletes to free up funds to pay the coaches. If you're already giving what you can, make sure your friends are doing what they can.

Go App! Give Yosef!

Agree with Daphne 100%, but also, there's no amount of money we can "show" Satt, Woody or anyone else that can compete with what any P5 can offer.

I imagine that Satterfield knows the university is doing everything it can within the budget available. As others pointed out, if a P5 comes calling, we will not be able to counter by out-bidding them.

There are tons of variables in evaluating the "race" to a P5 head coaching position here. Brown might be more likely to take another G5 position (AAC perhaps) if it paid more. I doubt he has the institutional loyalty that Satterfield has. I think Scott is more willing to wait for the "right" offer though, so that works in the other direction. I hope we keep Satterfield for a while, but if the right offer comes along, I won't blame him. He has given back a tremendous amount to his alma mater.
