Re: Attendance
This is anecdotal, but there were 1,000 weddings this weekend for the people I know. I missed the game (first missed home game since 2013) for a Lake Lure wedding, turned around and went to a second wedding the next day in Charlotte . My facebook and instagram feeds are nothing but nuptials today. I mean, SO many people I know got married on Saturday. Early October Saturdays are super popular.

Re: Attendance
Six regulars that sit behind me missed the game because of a wedding. My friend in the wedding event industry missed the game because he is covered up. Anecdotal, but you are right about weddings.Gonzo wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 9:47 amThis is anecdotal, but there were 1,000 weddings this weekend for the people I know. Re: Attendance
If you were on the East side they were literally toast. Was not expecting that heat given the forecast.HappyAppy98 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 8:21 amBINGO! However, personally I disagree with leaving the game early. My 3 and 4yr old were toast! I am trying to stretch them out for tailgate & game. What about a daycare/kids club in the stadium....bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 8:04 amI believe that the only real solution will be conference realignment, i.e. a move to or creation of a more regionalized conference. I say this being fully aware that we have discussed and beaten this to death. In my mind it's simply a no brainer. How many fans from New Mexico were in attendance? How many come from Louisiana or Texas or Idaho? It makes a huge difference when we play a regionally close good opponent. That helps explain attendance. As far as leaving early..baffling! Why on earth even put in the effort to come at all when you leave at halftime or in the third or early 4th qtr in a tight exciting game??![]()

Just to clarify. Traffic is horrible getting in and out of Boone.

Re: Attendance
So I think we figured it out:
1.) We need beer
2.) Daycare or don't have kids
3.) Don't get married on Saturdays or stay single
4.) Bring back re-entry
5.) Eric Church/Combs will play after every home game
Seems easy to me...

Re: Attendance
I am really starting to think that a 2:30 start time would help keep people in the stands... that would have the game over at 5:45 instead of 6:45 (unless you have a pass happy team such as on Saturday in which case the game stretched to after 7:00).

Re: Attendance
Attendance is Fine!
I'm pretty sure that attendance is measured by tickets sold, plus student scans at the gate. Students sections looked quite thin compared to how packed they can get for games like Wake and Miami. The hill had very few people sitting there. I don't think there were anywhere close to 22,000 actually at the game, and I don't think that is a bad number for homecoming. We've never sold out Homecoming and there are plenty of ticket holders that take that game off since Boone becomes so crowded. Having non-regional opponents is a tough draw for October games as well. Leaves start to change and the cost for staying in Boone rises dramatically compared to Sept and Nov games.
I get why some people leave at half, they were never really there to watch the game anyway, but I couldn't figure out why if you had stayed until the 4th quarter, what would prompt you to leave then.
Let's keep averaging 25,000+ per game for the season and I'll be completely fine with some ups and downs.

Re: Attendance
Saturday was a longer game than usual, I didn't get home until after 11. I understand the rationale behind 3:30 start times and I don't really object to them, but a 2:30 start would make it easier on old guy like me to get home a bit earlier.

Re: Attendance
I will take the 12,000 fans that were there at the end of the game over the 22,000 that were there at the start. I was impressed with how loud the crowd was at the end of the game!!

Re: Attendance
We are two weeks removed from 36k. Yes it was light for Homecoming, but the game v CCU in two weeks literally has one seat left for sale. Seriously, I just looked on Apps website. We might exceed 28k or 29k for this game.
There are trends within our fan base and others that are alarming, but it's clear to me that we prefer regional matchups versus 1-AA cupcakes and conference teams outside our geographical footprint.
Also, how many fans from SSU and NM St traveled combined? Maybe a few hundred? Is this not taken into consideration? What if those games were replaced with a 1-AA Elon or a new conference member like UNCC? Would we be having this conversation? Geographical realignment is coming soon.

Re: Attendance
We have had to miss two games for Weddings of all things. I hate to hear there wasn't a full house and that people left early; I would have given just about anything to be there for all of both missed games. We were able to stream the game during the reception though I caught a few really nasty looks from the Misses. My questions is since when do fans leave such a close contested game early? I really don't understand that at all.

Re: Attendance
What'd I give to goto games on a regular basis again. I've made it two games in the last 8 years since moving to Colorado (Wyoming and Wake). There is no better place to be on a Saturday, savor it.

Re: Attendance
I know State does, or at least last I heard they did. And then their fans complain about those who spend the third quarter in the parking lot tailgating.
It's always something.

Re: Attendance
Also State's stadium is surrounded by a massive parking lot (actually two if you count the fairgrounds right across the street). If you're parked anywhere for an App game besides Stadium or Justice, then you aren't going to head out to the car for more drinks at halftime and make it back anywhere near the start of the 3Q.

Re: Attendance
Truth. Carter Finley probably has 8 entrance/exits too. Easy to get people in and out. KBS has two. Not feasible.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 12:33 pmAlso State's stadium is surrounded by a massive parking lot (actually two if you count the fairgrounds right across the street).
