Re: U Miss FCS?
I miss the purity of the playoffs that FCS provides, not necessarily the seeding, bidding and regional set up of the FCS playoff format. It was nice to be able to drive 2-6 hours and see most of App's road games and this could become a reality again in the near future if CUSA/Sun Belt reorganize.
I don't believe I would miss FCS even if App was struggling with the move up. The fact that Satt and Co. have been successful this early in App's FBS tenure and the fact that App's scheduling has exceeded all expectations, validates that our program made the right move.

I agree, even if we had only gone 6-6 last year that would have been progress. When discussing expectations many felt making a bowl game by year three would have been a successful transition.

I don't miss FCS officiating. Regular season or playoff. I doubt anyone does. It's pure bush league at best.moonshine wrote:I miss the purity of the playoffs that FCS provides, not necessarily the seeding, bidding and regional set up of the FCS playoff format. If you don't know then how do you determine what is bush league.CVAPP wrote:I would not know or care.bcoach wrote:No worse than the ACCCVAPP wrote:I don't miss FCS officiating. Re: U Miss FCS?
By Sun Belt standards. Which is considerably better than what I watched for years and years and years. I am not saying the ACC is not bush league. I said I would not know or care.bcoach wrote:If you don't know then how do you determine what is bush league.CVAPP wrote:I would not know or care.bcoach wrote:No worse than the ACCCVAPP wrote:I don't miss FCS officiating. Re: U Miss FCS?
Every fan in every conference thinks their league has the worst officiating. Give the Sun Belt time. We'll soon have fans who swear middle school officiating is better. The reality is there's not a great deal of difference between the FBS and FCS conferences. And I can say that having watched more than my share of MEAC games. The officiating tends to get a lot better once you no longer have a rooting interest in one of the teams.

The guys that gave KR that touchdown in the title game. Stay where you are as you are happy, happy, happy!AppGrad78 wrote:Every fan in every conference thinks their league has the worst officiating. Re: U Miss FCS?
To be honest I think the original comment about refs had more to do with just making a negative comment about FCS than the actual officiating.

Re: U Miss FCS?
Refs seem to be getting worse everywhere - Did you guys watch the NCAA basketball tourney? - The championship game was horrible and one of the 3 in the championship is an outstanding ref (Mike Eades) - I don't know what happened to those 3 guys that night? - they ruined the flow of the game ---bcoach wrote:To be honest I think the original comment about refs had more to do with just making a negative comment about FCS than the actual officiating.

Re: U Miss FCS?
That is my point. The officials are about equal in all leagues. There are stars like Mike Eades but as a whole group they are pretty equal from league to league. I also agree that was a pretty bad night.WVAPPeer wrote:Refs seem to be getting worse everywhere - Did you guys watch the NCAA basketball tourney? - The championship game was horrible and one of the 3 in the championship is an outstanding ref (Mike Eades) - I don't know what happened to those 3 guys that night? - they ruined the flow of the game ---bcoach wrote:To be honest I think the original comment about refs had more to do with just making a negative comment about FCS than the actual officiating.

Re: U Miss FCS?
There were some good SoCon and FCS memories and as the record shows we have all-time winning records vs every SoCon opponent sans Furman. Not too bad. I would have preferred C-USA over SBC and I'm still not sold on playing teams west of the Mississippi River. The results speak for themselves though. Maybe a realignment will put us, Troy, stink, Marshall, ECU and JMU in some sort of conference together. I could live with that. Go Apps!

I stand corrected.
In other words, oops.
I would still like an EAST OF THE MISS.RIVER FBS conference we could be a part of.

I certaintly agree that would be ideal. Maybe someday that will be the case, but for now the SB is a better home for us.luvyosef wrote:Point taken.proasu89 wrote:There are several teams in CUSA that are west of the Mississippi.luvyosef wrote:There were some good SoCon and FCS memories and as the record shows we have all-time winning records vs every SoCon opponent sans Furman.
