I agree, he has done really well. Miller had a great year.

Horton may not be in Arkansas either. Their message boards have been speculating as to why he has not been on any of the recruiting visits this week even though he is the recruiting coordinator.Gonzo wrote:Well you say that as if you know where he is.Kgfish wrote:He's not in Arkansas.Gonzo wrote:I hope he's in Arkansas.JMappfan5 wrote:Chancellor Peacock is out-of-town until tomorrow. Several reports showed Horton being retained by Beilema. Their speculation as to why he wasn't making the recruiting visits was based on those reports.

Report: @winthegame gets App State head coach job. Look for FBS invite to follow. And a true spread option QB signee after that. #SunBelt
Very interesting, but pardon my ignorance...who is this Bennett guy tweeting this? I hope he's correct on all counts.

I'm not familiar with him either. I'd love for it to all be true as well but at this point, just another Twitter rumor. Not putting too much stock into the FBS half of it. I do think Satt is all but a done deal though.AppinATL wrote:Report: @winthegame gets App State head coach job. Look for FBS invite to follow. And a true spread option QB signee after that. #SunBelt

I only want the Sun Belt if GSU comes and somehow we are playing ECU and Marshall.AppinATL wrote:Report: @winthegame gets App State head coach job. Look for FBS invite to follow. And a true spread option QB signee after that. #SunBelt

As for the HC job how is SS resume better than Horton? Horton is the best man for the job and by taking him we will also keep SS. If Scott is the pick then I guess the rumors about there being a deal are true, which Scott and Charlie said there was no deal. Meaning they lied.
We need to know when those assistants were given long-term deals. Had Cobb signed them after or around the time he sent Moore the letters to stack the deck for Scott? Have to wonder about that and if so and it was a sham HC search then I have lost the respect I gained for Charlie that what he said was true. Shame on Cobb for the sham interviews if this is the case. We have a lot of top boosters and people on the BOT who will be asking questions if there is ever proof this was likely a sham.
Re: Who would you like as the next Head Coach?
Here's a Q...
If Satterfield is the HC... Does this put him on the field and out of the field house? How will that hinder his offensive playcalling skills?
Of course this is assuming that he wasn't on the sidelines this year... Was he?

Re: Who would you like as the next Head Coach?
You are making some pretty big assumptions. How is it a given that if we hire Horton, Satterfield will stay? You can't know that. Also, if Satterfield is the pick, that does not necessarily mean there was a guaranteed deal last year. Maybe Horton wants more money than we can afford to pay. Maybe Horton is offered but decides he's better off where he is...you don't know any of this stuff. Why do people like you see conspiracies behind every door?Appst1 wrote:I only want the Sun Belt if GSU comes and somehow we are playing ECU and Marshall.AppinATL wrote:Report: @winthegame gets App State head coach job. Re: Who would you like as the next Head Coach?
After the Capelgate how can you not expect people to be suspicious? Look at the time line of these contracts. We know Scott didn't come on board for at least a month AFTER Cobb met with Moore in December to lay out the plans for 2012 to be his last year. Very few assistant coaches are given multi year contracts. This thing has all the appearances of a plan by Cobb to make Scott the coach from the get go.AppinATL wrote:You are making some pretty big assumptions. I don't know where he was...but the OC is usually in the booth. My hope is that he hires an OC. I am not a big fan of the Head Coach pulling double duty. He needs have his eyes on the field while his OC is discussing strategy.vegattk wrote:Here's a Q...

Re: Who would you like as the next Head Coach?
Scott Satterfield played QB at Appalachian and, after working his way up in the assistant coach ranks, became OC and QB coach where he guided the program through its best days, 2005-2007 and worked with QBs like Richie Williams and some guy named Armanti Edwards.Kgfish wrote:After the Capelgate how can you not expect people to be suspicious? He then moved on to the FBS where, after a stint at Toledo, he joined the young coaching staff at FIU where, after years of losing under Mario Cristobal, the Golden Panthers went to back-to-back bowl games including a Sun Belt championship. He also worked with a great playmaker and another NFL product, WR T.Y. Hilton. This year, the first after Satterfield's departure, FIU fired Cristobal after a disappointing 3-9 season.
Satterfield came back home to ASU to find a proud program under a cloud of uncertainty after a sexual assault scandal, numerous player suspensions and dismissals, a young roster, a SoCon title streak ended, a stagnant offense, and consistent disappointment in the playoffs. In his FIRST season, Satterfield took the ASU spread back to the top of the SoCon and one of the more feared offenses in the FCS. Under his watch, role players like Tony Washington, Andrew Peacock, and Steven Miller blossomed into stars. Sean Price became the best freshman WR in the history of the FCS. The ASU swagger of the old days was back. Most importantly, despite youth, injuries, and a tough conference, ASU won the Southern Conference once again, and is poised to be even better next year.
Capel had exactly one year of coaching experience AT ANY LEVEL when he was hired, and "beat out" assistant Matt McMahon who was basically the Scott Satterfield for ASU basketball. The hire was questionable and unsupported from the get-go. Capel's biggest achievement was making Ike Butts a serviceable big man in 2009.
In the future, please refrain from comparing a possible Satterfield hire to the Capel hire.
