Was supposed to make this one, can't now due to death in wife's family. Now hope that Nov 5th is 3:30. Just so dislike noon games. Bit sunburned from this past week.

As for the 3 hours before and the 1 hour after. We didn't get any push back from anyone and we there WAY before and WAY after.
Reopen the tailgates, and enjoy the friends and family, watch some other games on the satelite, and let traffic die down before heading back down the mountain. It can work.

Couldn't get much better than the one I was at, I've never had such a good breakfast.DaphneUrquhart wrote:Excellent! Another chance to perfect the breakfast tailgate.

We tailgated after Miami as well and didn't have any issues. Pretty nice letting all of the traffic clear out, and plenty of daylight left to have a good tailgate.

After the game, in Raley lot, we were approached by several different officers and were told we could stay as long as we wanted but no alcohol after 4:17.

Re: App vs GSU Game Time Set For Noon
If people enjoy tailgating after the game, that's great. For me, I've got a 3-hour drive after the game, so drinking more isn't an option. I don't have a TV and satellite to bring along, so watching more games isn't an option. Frankly, hanging out in an emptying parking lot postgame doesn't sound that fun to me anyway - by that point I'm ready to get on with my day/night. We could head over to King St., but 3:30 isn't exactly when I'd normally be grabbing a meal. Again, all JMO.
I'm glad some people enjoy that schedule, but there are reasons others don't.

All games should either be Noon or 7:00. 3:30 games take up your whole Saturday and as a fan of ALL college football, does not give you much chance to see other games. Last Saturday was great, I was at home in my recliner enjoying Alabama vs Ole Miss with a bourbon & coke by 4 PM.

I don't profess to speak for anyone but myself but living 3 hours away, I like the early kickoffs. I would much rather travel as the darkness turns to light as opposed to the reverse.TheMoody1 wrote:Most people, that come from several hours away, hate noon kick-offs. Um, no. It is obvious you live close to Boone if home by 4. Noon and 7pm games will alienate a large portion of our fanbase. Would have similar impact as weeknight games. If it becomes the norm, I myself may have to rethink. 7pm games especially... I enjoy night games as much as everyone, but not a norm. That all of a sudden changes the dynamics from a day trip to weekend stay.Appersrule wrote:All games should either be Noon or 7:00. 3:30 games take up your whole Saturday and as a fan of ALL college football, does not give you much chance to see other games. 3:30 is the sweet spot & I think historical attendance numbers in Boone support this strongly.

Re: App vs GSU Game Time Set For Noon
I enjoy my weekends and savoring every minute of them. Hard to fit in anything else on a Saturday that I need to catch up on from the week with 3:30 kicks. The 1 pm model works for the NFL with an occasional night game. I think it would work for us too.AppinVA wrote:You say this like it's a bad thing.Appersrule wrote:All games should either be Noon or 7:00. 3:30 games take up your whole Saturday and as a fan of ALL college football, does not give you much chance to see other games. I enjoy my Appalachian football and savor every minute of it, especially a pregame tailgate. Given the commute of many App alums and fans, a noon kickoff makes things difficult. Enjoy your noon kickoff when you get them. The 3:30 kickoff will be enjoyed by others.Appersrule wrote:I enjoy my weekends and savoring every minute of them. NFL teams aren't located in towns of 17,000 where much of the fan base lives 2-3 hours away. Also, it's America's most popular sports league, so it has a slightly larger base to draw attendance from than the Sun Belt.Appersrule wrote:I enjoy my weekends and savoring every minute of them. If you live close enough to be home by 4 after a noon game, that means you could have until at least 2:30 to watch football or do whatever else needs doing before a 3:30 game, and you could still be home in time for the primetime games.

Re: App vs GSU Game Time Set For Noon
We can't make decisions about tickets based on game times. I like noon games and getting home earlier. I like 3:30 games and having my mornings to do other things. I like 7:00 games and playing under the lights when it's hot. I just like being able to attend. BUT, it doesn't matter what I think. We wanted to move up to the big leagues and in the big leagues, all game times are decided by television. App has little control to the game times. I think if it was up to App, you would always see the 3:30 game times, so don't try to punish the team/program by saying you'll just quit coming. They need our support at all days & times. Odds are, the more successful we are, the more noon and night games you'll see because they'll want us in better time slots for television.

Totally understand when the game times are set by ESPN/2/U. Not sure it's worth it for a regional ASN telecast when the game is already on ESPN3.BUTCH1991 wrote:We can't make decisions about tickets based on game times. As for me, I have no desire to "punish the program," but I will seek out the 3:30 or 6:00 kickoffs in the future.

Not sure how eastern you are, but if you get Raleigh programming channel 28 WRDC is showing the App-Akron game.goapps93 wrote:ASN is national but their programming is regional. This weekend's game vs. Akron is not on in our region, well not in Eastern NC anyway. They will broadcast the UMASS/MissSt. game here. Thank goodness for ESPN3.

According to the Sun Belt article announcing game times, it was ESPN that was going to set our game time after all the other conference games for that weekend had already been set.

I'm the opposite. I can pick up far away games in my car a whole lot better when the sun goes down. I don't have Sirius anymore so once the sun goes down, the signal gets better. Never fails that you can almost ALWAYS pick up the Kentucky Wildcat radio network as you travel down 321.hapapp wrote:I don't profess to speak for anyone but myself but living 3 hours away, I like the early kickoffs.
