Re: Official Ibis prediction thread
Anything can happen but the one aspect I least expect is either of our lines wearing down. We have lots of D line depth and we have an experienced O line. Our undersized D linemen had no problem getting by larger UT O linemen.Black Saturday wrote:When did Miami get better lines than UT?U of my Emme wrote:Heck, I'm a Cane fan, and I'd take that bet. Re: Official Ibis prediction thread
If there is one prediction I'm 1000% sure of, it's that fans will storm the field if we win. And that includes this old man. I think we have a good shot to win but let's not pretend it wouldn't be a massive, program-changing moment if we do./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I don't think Miami is ranked high enough or us low enough to warrant a storming of the field and goal post take down. I'd like for us to win, and make it look like we were always meant to win. A win against Miami especially after a close Tennessee showing would not make too much noise on the news outlets. Especially considering Miami isn't projected to do much, and have not played anyone.

I view it as a right of passage . A spiritual thing. Some young hunters are ritualistic with their first kill. APP is that young hunter, The U is worthy game - our very first heraldic P5 opponent in KBS. Duck Ponding the goal posts has happened along the APP football program's journey with other "small private schools" and way lesser programs. Should we play well enough to win - why not display our passion over the first behemouth?/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I don't think Miami is ranked high enough or us low enough to warrant a storming of the field and goal post take down. I feel like our passing game will be a lot better this game. We showed more passing game, but did not need much.

I wouldn't put the 3 sacks ODU got on the OL. TL needs to make quicker decisions. The OL can only hold off defenders for so long. TL will need to speed up his decision process even more against the U. As for my prediction, I'll go with my heart!hapapp wrote:Our O line will need to do a better job pass blocking.

Of course and it's all just opinion as you say. I just like reading our folks picking our team regardless of the opponent or regardless of the potential for win or loss. Looking for some good vibrationsEastHallApp wrote:Because people have different opinions and what we post here has nothing to do with the outcome?bigdaddyg wrote:I say again. I will probably be drunk enough to go on the field and help the young lads with the field goal post. My original post was typed with a sober mind. Alcohol, mixed with the fact we beat Miami....Yea...You're right....I will be on that field too. I am just trying to figure out how they can get them out of the stadium the way the stadium is currently set up.EastHallApp wrote:If there is one prediction I'm 1000% sure of, it's that fans will storm the field if we win. Re: Official Ibis prediction thread
A quick tally and we have 37 predicting an App victory to just 10 for the U. I certainly wish I had the belief of you 37. I think we can win, but not sure we will. I am actually worried that our guys may just be too up for this game. If the team has talked 1 tenth as much about this game the last 6 months as we have on this board, then we could be in trouble. Based on the postings here, its like we have never played a big game in our history rather than just another big game opportunity for us. Our passing game worries me too much and their ability to pass against our bend but don't break soft coverage defense concerns me even more. I watched ODU find too many open guys and they don't have an NFL caliber 1st rounder calling their shots downfield. I will be watching, hoping, hell even praying for a win but for now I just can't bring myself to make a prediction. Great write up as always Big C but no prediction from me on this one. Go Apps!!!! Please prove me wrong.

App has a fairly good record against future pro QBs - Henne, Martin, Riddle, Flacco, etc...

Re: Official Ibis prediction thread
App's played plenty of big games over the years but our program has never hosted a big time program ranked in the top 25. This history making game is setting a precedent so it's no wonder the fans are excited. With Eric Church and Pat McCrory to be in attendance, what's there not to be excited about?t4pizza wrote:Based on the postings here, its like we have never played a big game in our history rather than just another big game opportunity for us. Woody likes the soft coverage to keep everything in front and force the other team to string together a lot of plays instead of giving up the big play over the top. The pressure will be on the DB's and OLB's to make plays. They must play with discipline by keeping contain and trust the next man to do their job. Watching some of the FAU games, you see the Owl LB's and DB's get sucked inside only to watch the RB bounce outside.
The D put plenty of pressure on ODU's QB, Washington was just nimble enough to keep the play alive and find an open man. BK does have NFL potential but this is his 3rd OC in his Miami career. He's struggled a bit to open the 2016 season with Richt's scheme. He doesn't seem all that comfortable having to drop from under center. App's D must get pressure on him and make him feel uncomfortable which will hopefully lead to some mistakes/turnovers on his part. The DL will face a tougher test than they did at UT as the pro style Richt runs is more conducive to line their big OL up and come straight downhill as opposed to the lateral zone movements they saw against UT.
I think on O, Satt will try to get those young LBer's matched up with Cox and hit him out of the backfield along with Burns over the middle. Manny Diaz likes to throw the kitchen sink at opposing offenses. Think he blitzes roughly half the time. Lamb must recognize and make smart quick decisions. We will make their players feel uncomfortable with our psychological warfare of only playing country music in the stadium and they will forever hate, "play me some mountain music!"

Late touchdown leaves us down 20-21. Lamb to Burns for two point conversion. Defense holds for the 22-21 victory.

Re: Official Ibis prediction thread
Noticed the soft zone Saturday but also noticed the 7 for ODU. Bend and don't break and trade TD's for FG's. We don't have Gibbs and didn't we have another DB nicked up? I would imagine that the coverage will amp up as the season goes along. No bombs!
