After his incredible year last year, prior to his injury, I expected him to come out of the gates with a bang. But after a noticeable lack of hearing his name called in the first two weeks I went back and looked at his stats. 2 receptions. Anybody have an idea at how many times he has actually been targeted. Looks like Lamb has an eye out for Capel this year but not Meadors? Has he lost a step due to the injury or am I making too much out of this?

I am hopeful that we hear both his name and Capel's name often over the upcoming weeks. The Tennessee game was practically a non-factor since we hardly threw the ball at all.

I think making a little much out of it. I did notice yesterday, capel was his main target, but the truth is, we have very few passes, especially downfield, I our first 2 games. Essentially 0 in the Tennessee game, and with the exception of the pass to burns and capel, next to none yesterday. Meadors was targeted once in the endzone but got hit immediately and lost the ball, then came out of the game. Don't know how serious it is, hopefully he will be back soon, we do need him and others to get open so we can start getting some passes downfield to keep our run game relevant

I was thinking the same thing last night. I hope he gets a lot more involved. It's obvious we love getting the ball to Hopkins in a variety of ways as well. I hope Jalin Moore gets it going. Seems to be a little hesitant hitting the holes so far this year.

I haven't watched the game yet but a question to those in attendance. Given that he is our most experienced WR, is he garnering extra attention as defenses make other receivers beat them?

I noticed Meadors had a safety shading over to his side on a mumber of plays. Probably opened things up for Capel and Burns.

I figured as much. As Capeland Burns start to warrant attention then I think Meadors will see touches.

I think it's true that Meadors is probably getting more attention from Defenses early on. He's one of the few that they saw film on before this season and he does have some highlight reel catches. That said, if they've been watching this season, Capel is looking very good and Hopkins is showing well also. These young WRs really are extremely athletic! I think our passing game is going to be a strength by mid season.

We have not shown (opened) up the offense. We are likely to see a lot more balance this week. We have not had to open it up and won't until we have to.....we ready, Meadors ready.

I tend to agree with you. It's not a slight against Taylor either. I think both do alot well and are great representatives for our university. Both are really good.

You know, I hate to say it but...I tend to agree. Lamb has done well but he just doesn't zip it hard enough. I feel like Caruso is a load running the ball. If Lamb had put more on the first pass Saturday it was an easy TD. I'm not clamoring for a change by any means but Caruso might be really good. I guess that's a nice problem to have.

This time last year I would have even gone so far as to bet that Caruso never started a game for App State. He's a hard worker and a good teammate, but let's not get carried away.

Caruso had trouble convincingly winning the backup job coming out of fall camp. Basically won the backup job by default. I think you're a little off base here.

I never said JP was a better player, just that they are both very similar.

I do believe they (coaches) trust JP though, otherwise you wouldn't see Taylor keeping the ball as often on option plays. If they didn't believe their backup could step up they would limit his hits as best as possible. That's where I was coming from more or less.

I'd be willing to bet we will use the misdirection plays, and a lot of screens and passes to the TE considering how aggressively they blitz their young LB's. We have to make them try to read plays and defend more of the field instead of just rushing up field.

Believe they may have the speed to get to the sweeps and screens. We need quick slants/etc. But Lamb has to be able to read the blitzes everytime or he'll get picked by a LB.
