The new Standard of Boone apartments is not estimated to be completed until October. Similar to the Cottages of Boone, they will be placing their tenants into hotel rooms. If I recall correctly, I believe the Standard had roughly 560~ beds. Not sure what their occupancy rate was for August but you have to imagine it's several hundred students that will need to be housed in a hotel until the complex receives their CO.

Re: Book your hotels now!!!
The Democrat reported there were 561 rooms, and over 500 have been rented. The most astonishing thing to me was the so called reasoning for the delay. Apparently they blamed the weather and labor issues. We have had a relatively dry summer, and a very mild winter, all while missing the deadline by 2 months. The Standard doesn't even appear to be "dried-in" at this point.

Yeah I just saw that C...blaming the weather!?! What a joke, it's been extremely mild this summer. If they wouldn't clock out at 5pm every day, they probably could've been done on time. As for labor issues, did the developers not research before moving forward? They should've brought labor up the mountain and put them in hotels, not their soon to be customers who can most likely afford some nice attorneys. I see class action in their future!

The hotel that most of the off the mountain labor stayed at is now under the standard. The Red Carpet Inn was I think the only sizable place up here that did longer term rates and had efficiencys.moonshine wrote:Yeah I just saw that C...blaming the weather!?! I can't tell you the last time I got a hotel room in Boone during football season. Prices are way too high. I usually stay in West Jefferson, or if I can get enough people a cabin. Getting a cabin for the Miami game...10 people for $800 total for the stay. $80 for two nights...Can't beat that. Cabins are the way to go. Plus most have very scenic views.
