These games are home openers, they are ideal games to start the season.

Because Western's AD only will continue to schedule App if it was a home and home and I'd like to have our players with functioning knees, which couldn't happen after playing Elon.
WCU is delusional in so many ways...

I honestly have no desire to play Western for a while. They do us no good.

Western at KBS would probably sell more tickets than any other FCS opponent. Despite that the kitties can obviously get higher paying gigs and this may never change. Barring some unforeseeable turn of events the gridiron "rivalry" with Western is finished.

49-18-1 can be the series record with the 'cants from now until the end of time as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know if Western is demanding a home and home in order to play. I know some public statements were made way back when we first announced the move, but I would think they know that no FBS program in the country is going to play at an FCS school in football. Even where there aren't conference prohibitions against it, you just aren't going to see it. I think the bigger issue is that Western is relying heavily on the money from FBS games during their rebuilding period. App isn't going to match what they are getting for their SEC games so I just don't think the $ works out for this game right now. I do think we'll see them in Boone again eventually, but not in the next few years.

I do think we should be playing some Western in basketball and football where the SoCon is technically a peer and not so far behind the Sun Belt.

They do. But this was an easier way of saying "we're not playing App anymore".
