Nice thing was that they got to run by the same fans at the end of the game. Though they didn't waste any time getting into the locker room that time.

I heard about it, but must confess I didn't see the halftime taunting as I left my seat after the TD that made it 17-7 to get a jump on concessions and the restrooms.

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
Sitting in Section R right next to the band. Many of the OHIO players were pointing at the scoreboard and dancing around. I read that since 2009 they were 48-1 when leading at halftime. I guess they were pretty confident. It was awesome to see them have to come back by that crowd again after the game.

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
I watched the game at home on TV : - (
I don't remember seeing the halftime taunts; guess I will watch the game for the fourth time!
I did get the feeling throughout the game that Ohio's players played a much dirtier type of football than we do. I never got that feeling any other time this year. Sure, there were big hits given and taken, but that;s football. These Ohio players just seemed very cocky and dirty in their play. They must all have posters of Odell Beckham on their walls!

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
They were talking junk the whole game and apparently all week during the bowl festivities. So yeah, Matics giving the shhhh motion was awesome and warrantedWataugaMan wrote:This explains why, after kicking the game winning field goal, Matics glanced over at the Ohio bench while running and made the "shisssh motion" aka "shut up" with his finger. Good job Zach, love that final touch!! Watch the video, you'll see what I mean. Love it!!

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
Anybody witness an altercation between the two teams? I was told by a guy who is in Montgomery government that maybe Friday night the two teams were in the same location and the Ohio guys started their shenanigans and it almost got ugly. Heard the cops wanted to cart a few off but were convinced not to. Can anyone confirm this?

Go back and watch the hit Mondo took in the first half that injured him. Their coaches were taunting him. Their garbage starts at the top.

There was a meeting up on the causeway right after all this that involved both coaches and numerous assistants also two or three police. Went on for about ten minutes.

Not only were the coaches taunting Mondo, their players were laughing and dancing around as he was laying on the field. I actually ended up on the Ohio side of the field and was sitting a couple rows up, got a front row view of #15 Vick for them dancing and doing the "shoe shine" move while Mondo was down. Needless to say there were plenty of App fans on that side of the field that let him have it. Even worse, the Ohio fans near us tried to defend the behavior. It was very strange.

I must say after watching a few of their games this year, the team from stAte is pretty dirty and arrogant.bertolinidives wrote: I did get the feeling throughout the game that Ohio's players played a much dirtier type of football than we do. I never got that feeling any other time this year.

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
This is totally true, I sat next to the band on about the 13 yard line and the whole team was taunting our fans. I did not see us do anything to prompt their classless display. When they came out for the second half, however, I didn't see a single player look up or make eye contact. They must have gotten chewed out about it by their coaches.Gonzo wrote:It was unreal. Their entire team ran to our sideline and participated from what I saw. I saw double birds. They mocked the throw the cash thing. I can't believe it didn't draw a flag. The only explaination I can fathom is that the refs had already left the field. An absolute disgrace. It helps me appreciate what a classy program we have at Appalachian.
We drowned them out with the most powerful ASU chant of the game, and we won, so l feel terrific about it today.
The Ohio fans I met were very nice. I wish them safe travels. The Ohio football team? I smile at the thought of those classless pricks crying on their miserable trip back to Ohio. You're the first team in history to lose a bowl game to a team in its first year of eligability. Eat ****.

The hit happens at 35:46 in this video. It doesn't look like much at first, but upon seeing the replay their coaches and players definitely are taunting him while he's on the groundHighPointApp wrote:HeffnerIV wrote:Go back and watch the hit Mondo took in the first half that injured him. Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
Yeah I had never seen a thing like it. If I was a coach I would be completely embarrassed, it's like they just stopped as a unit and were pointing at us and pointing to the scoreboard. It was unbelievable, I was shocked to see a team act like this. Again, it was truly unlike anything I had ever seen.
And boy, did we remind their players of it when they were walking back to their lockerroom at the end of the game. Sweet sweet karma baby.
I want to give a huge shoutout to the fans who started Appalachian chants when their players were doing this. Not gonna lie, after that end to the half I was feeling pretty dejected. We completely outplayed them and were down by 10 points going into the break. Then their players pulled that ****. I was furious, I won't lie when I say I didn't even participate in the halftime chants. But the rest of my Mountaineer family did and you better believe our players heard. We didn't give up and they sure never did either.

Re: Ohio's Halftime Halftime Celebration
Thanks for posting. Those coaches were definitely taunting. I guess that is why their players behaved the way they did, bad examples from their coaches. Makes you appreciate Coach Sat and his staff even more.S.Lewis15 wrote:The hit happens at 35:46 in this video. On another note, I wonder why ESPN is still using our old Gorton's Fisherman looking logo on their graphics. It is below the block "A" logo every time they show it. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing App State on ESPN as much as possible, and they are also using our Victory Yosef, but I thought we stopped using the old logo.
