Yup, not good timing to have a bad team. This future home game next year will help with sales, but it’s no N.C. State. The away trip will be similar to away at Boise.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:22 amJust to clarify, I was referring to home schedules. I think between the program falling off and State backing out, we could be looking at a season ticket sales dropoff without some significant home additions. Agree the @Boise game will be a big deal.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:05 amThe Boise away trip will be fun next year. (All due respect to Toledo, who's a good program, but I just don't think they'll drive many ticket sales in Boone.)
And the future schedule announcement will be a great environment in Boone next year and a similar type Boise trip for the away trip out west.
2 great additions in the immediate near term.

Hahaha walking on eggshells around here. I gave a pretty good hint a month ago but don’t think anyone caught it! They better sign or it’ll be pretty hard to find a good replacement this late in the calendar. That future home game is less than 11 months out.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:18 amSo I guess everyone here is basically doing the 20 questions thing hinting that it's Oregon State without just saying it, correct?

If I were a G5 team I would sign up to play in Boone in 2025 without hesitation.

How many G5s have open dates in 2025 other than those in the Pac2? Maybe Ole Miss since Wake bailed on them?

I know we're saving for a buyout of Clark and whatever else is coming down the pipeline, but i'd REALLY like to buyout that NC State game. Yeah its petty, but buy it out and replace with another P4 for a larger amount than our buyout was.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:33 amYup, not good timing to have a bad team. Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
I would rather see people funneling money into NIL dollars for players than buying out an NC State game where they actually pay us to play.....
It is priorities IMO...I feel like we are behind our peers in this area...just gut .no research to support it...
Given the current landscape, we have to pay to play. Some may not agree with the concept...but it is what it is..

There is positive correlation between the introduction to NIL and our downward on the field performance, but I'm not ready to concede causation.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 12:57 pmI would rather see people funneling money into NIL dollars for players than buying out an NC State game where they actually pay us to play.....

My comment is more long term and not about current season results. It will all play into success. Good coaching, good players ....NIL..Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 2:00 pmThere is positive correlation between the introduction to NIL and our downward on the field performance, but I'm not ready to concede causation.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 12:57 pmI would rather see people funneling money into NIL dollars for players than buying out an NC State game where they actually pay us to play.....

No kidding, teams beating our a** aren’t rolling in the dough. It does make for a convenient excuse.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 2:27 pmMy comment is more long term and not about current season results. It will all play into success. Yep, not kidding. NIL will impact a schools ability to recruit a kid even at the G5 to level in the future....Pikapp79 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 5:10 pmNo kidding, teams beating our a** aren’t rolling in the dough. Toledo is going to Wazzu next year, so Toledo has to drop a 2025 game.

This also means one of Toledo’s previously scheduled non-conference opponents will be postponed or canceled:
08/30 - at Kentucky
09/06 - WKU
09/13 - Morgan State
09/20 - at Appalachian State

Not really because last weekend Gillin said announcements in the next couple of weeks.

GIllin is waiting on the other school(s) to pull the trigger. He’s as eager as the rest of us for a bit of good news for the High Country.

Until shawn clark is gone...and we begin to rebuild the crumbling indrastructure...we would be wise to schedule like liberty. Play the weakest teams possible. If you guys think we are closer to being what we were than a perennial losing team...ive got bad news for you. Its not just the terrible current results...the man has recruited nothing. He relied on the covid rules to have inherited players stay 5 and 6 years...yes he underperformed and mismanaged that talent...but he recruited nothing to replace them. He even declined on joey until another coach saw him at a combine or something and asked clark to reconsider. This is an fcs roster.

App has Joey because Ponce identified him as someone worth watching and nurtured the relationship.AppSt12 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:05 amUntil shawn clark is gone...and we begin to rebuild the crumbling indrastructure...we would be wise to schedule like liberty. Also, App doesn’t have the luxury of playing in a weak conference like Liberty does. Other than avoiding scheduling P4 teams, how else might they water down the schedule? Easier said than done.
