ECU is 99 percent vaccinated. That doesn’t happen by accident. They’ll be at full strength for the season.

"vast majority" could be anything from 99% to 55% and we can all agree there is a big difference in those numbers.

If the answer was good why not answer it directly instead of dodging the question by responding with some vague nonsense?

Coach Clark did his best Fred Astaire. Unfortunately, the media merely applauded. After all, it's only the most important question of the preseason for every athletic team in the country.

Look, the coaching staff is aware the vaccination rate is lower than they would like. I don't know the exact percentage, but do know it's not where they want it (yet).
That said, they do have a plan in place to limit impact from the unvaccinated players. Clark kind of alluded to that when he answered a question about how different last year was.

Re: How does ECU look?
I really don’t see a problem with the response. Why does he need to give a number? I mean he could tell you 95%, but would we know that it is accurate? I mean some of these coaches and schools have provided numbers, but has anyone verified the accuracy of the claim? If Houston had said a “vast majority”, instead of 123 out of 125, would it make it less believable? We aren’t entitled to know everything in the manner that we want to know it. He said that he and the staff are educating as best as they can. Is it that hard for anyone to believe him? Why would he lie?

He made it sound as if he's pleased with our vaccination numbers. If AppStateNews is accurate, that's not true. There were 10 better ways to answer that question, but he chose to blow smoke up our butts. Moreover, the media failed in its role to drill down deeper.
If we don't find true leadership in our lockerroom and on the coaching staff, this season has the potential to be disastrous.

Because Covid has brought out some people’s inner “Karen.” They’ve can’t resist obsessing over what other people and their families do with their body. Karen knows best, and will ridicule you and annoy the $h!t out of you, if your ideas or plan deviates at all from theirs.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:23 pmI really don’t see a problem with the response. If the CDC study in Mass starts being replicated around the country, they may not either depending on when their players were vaccinated.

So I am clear. Are you suggesting that Clark isn’t the man for the job of Head Coach? Sounds like you are questioning his abilities to lead.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:37 pmHe made it sound as if he's pleased with our vaccination numbers. I am not sure how my statement makes that untrue. He's allowed to be happy with the numbers but still wish it were higher.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:37 pmHe made it sound as if he's pleased with our vaccination numbers. If you had a million dollars, I am sure you would be happy with that but still wish it were 10 million.

Re: How does ECU look?
I'm a big fan of coach Clark and have been thrilled with his performance to date. But if our season goes the way of N.C. State's baseball season, then I likely will have a different opinion.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:41 pmSo I am clear. Are you suggesting that Clark isn’t the man for the job of Head Coach? I realize coach Clark is in a difficult position. I get that. And we're not even one day into fall practice. But successfully vaccinating a group of athletes takes time. Vaccinations need to start this week if we are to get to the percentages we need by the season opener. Public pronouncements that the "vast majority" of our athletes are vaccinated are great ... if true. But my Spidey sense is telling me otherwise.

I don’t feel that the NC State situation is a fair comparison. Any issues, should they arise will not prevent us from playing for a National Championship. While I understand your point about vaccinations mitigating the “Potential” of a loss by forfeiture, it’s just a game.

Re: How does ECU look?
But if that "just a game" causes us to forfeit the SunBelt Championship game that in turn causes us to miss out on a undefeated season and the NY6, that's exactly like NC State..AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:10 pmI don’t feel that the NC State situation is a fair comparison. Work your tail off all season to get derailed by some teammates that chose to not get a safe and effective vaccine based on technology that's been in development since.late 80s/early 90s.

Safe and effective? It’s so effective that even after you get the vaccine you can still get, spread, and die from the virus. And I personally know more people who have died from complications from the vaccine than I know who have died from the virus.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:27 pmBut if that "just a game" causes us to forfeit the SunBelt Championship game that in turn causes us to miss out on a undefeated season and the NY6, that's exactly like NC State..AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:10 pmI don’t feel that the NC State situation is a fair comparison.
