I had high hopes for him but alas never showed what we thought he really had. Enjoy Durham.

Yeah only worse would have been GS or Furman.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 1:57 pmGood Grief. Anywhere but Dook! AC is dead to me...just kidding. Good Luck !!
He was in my class this past semester but we didn't meet online at all, so didn't talk.

Castle to Duke with 1 year of eligibility left is what the transfer portal should be about. He gave his all for App, got a degree and as a Senior he now can go take his talents to the P4 and get, I assume an MBA, at Duke.
Good for him

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
I’d argue we have been rebuilding since the ‘22 recruiting class… none of us were willing to admit it though… Dec ‘21 we signed just 14 high school kids. Brought 2 portal transfers in for spring ball (Kaeden/Marshall) then another 7 over the summer from the portal (9 in total). Looking back, To me that was the canary in the coal mine of a rebuild and trying mask a poor pipeline of recruits.biggie wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 12:20 pmIn the recent past there are transfers coming in to balance out the losses. Right now it is looking like the biggest rebuilding year ever. Combined with watching others play in the bowls and basketball not doing well isn't going to make for many happy people.T-Dog wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 12:18 pmAs the person who feel for the reel of Makai saying he's going to play again while wearing App State gear, oh well.
Honestly, some of y'all are the worst with constant doomerism across multiple threads. It's tiring. You constant feed negativity into your lives and it shows. I'm prone to negativity at times, but I can't live being that way all the time. I say my piece and move along.

And not having a full coaching staff while everyone leaves and the better players in the portal are being picked up is gonna make it difficult to rebuild this year.

Agree the bubble is moving through the program and now coming home to roost which is painful to watch. That ‘22 class should be our RS Jrs & Seniors now. But when starting from 14 we left ourselves with a high risk for a bare cupboard.biggie wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 2:31 pmRight now this seems worse.AppDawg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 2:29 pmI’d argue we have been rebuilding since the ‘22 recruiting class… none of us were willing to admit it though… Dec ‘21 we signed just 14 high school kids. What made Satt’s approach so great, he refused to sacrifice a class by bringing in a multitude of transfers - keeping HS signees consistently b/w 18 and 22. Instead he opted to play younger guys… even if it meant burning a redshirt. It fostered a program that was able to reload.
A silver lining perhaps… we haven’t had much attrition from our ‘23 and ‘24 classes. 15 and 18 HS signees, respectively… albeit the class just signed is currently at just 9, maybe with right approach we can get out of this hole sooner rather than later.
Yes, the portal is “new” but in my opinion we should still strive for HS classes approaching 22 in size.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
Don’t forget Matt Kenseths snoozefest of a championship season - which was certainly a contributing factor to changes in the points system.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 6:59 pmThey still thrived through that era. But, they took their eye of the ball and valued markets over their core fans and thumbed their nose at tradition. (and Sponsorships and $$$ were driving that boat). Everyone was able to be fat and happy, because the TV contracts provided plenty of revenue.AppWyo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 3:24 pmWhat NASCAR did is they forgot about their fans that got them there. It was really because the France Family would not give Bruton Smith any races for his tracks, so he bought racetracks that the France Family did not own and take those tracks' races for his tracks.AppDawg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 3:04 pmThe folly in that thinking is the assumption $$$ will continue to flow in via ticket sales/donations.
We have seen this movie before with NASCAR in the early 2000’s… now where are they? Struggling for viewership and removing 10’s of thousands of stands from every track.
Then, their passion to try to compete with the NFL led to a playoff system that further distanced the core fans. Revenue sharing (charters) kicked in and the owners pushed to reduced costs + NASCAR saw an opportunity to standardize parts through a single vendor (per part), which also benefitted their interests.
They were successful at attracting the casual fan during their boom, but eventually that casual fan moved on to the next shiny object. Markets and marketing were more important than the on-track product and eventually attendance and viewership plummeted. Plus, networks took the product to secondary cable networks and now, streaming services (trying to force subscriptions), which meant that all of the races couldn't be consumed by the core fan *unless they wanted to open their wallets).
Plus, they moved start times purely at the discretion of the TV networks, which often now results in rain outs or shortened races which could have been run the full distance, had they started at the traditional 1:00 pm.
Fortune 500 companies invested their marketing revenue in other sports/opportunities, the fans went away, the new car isn't competitive unless the tires are dialed in perfect, the playoff system doesn't draw fans, there are bad start times and they now find themselves in a lawsuit due to Charter negotiations that they tried to force down the owners throat (charges of being a monopoly in a legal battle against Team Michael Jordan). Then, there's the in race officiating issues....
Basically, a series of bad mistakes by a leadership group that can't get out of their own way and refuses to acknowledge it's issues.
Trying to do this on the fan's backs will be a mistake.

The Transfer in thread and new coaches thread are completely blank every day. The transfer out thread has massive talent leaving every day. I'm here for the doomerism. Next season shaping up to be a f*cking bloodbath. It appears players and coaches have no interest in this program anymore. We'll only get the pathetic scraps left over. Well done everyone

We’ve had some of our best players of a 5-6 team transfer, but I wouldn’t call it massive talent leavingNcmtn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 10:45 pmThe Transfer in thread and new coaches thread are completely blank every day. I’m a bit more concerned about the lack of staff hirings then the transfer portal out.
I am ready for contracts to start because this whole free agent every year is dumb
