I would agree but one example does not a trend make. Plenty of families in almost every sport known to man do this. Obviously a lot is not known about McHugh sense he spent several months with Jordan Palmer, prepping as an NFL player would for the draft. That's a little different than a kid going to Mater Dei. He also has the records at IMG to prove that he can play.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 1:47 pmOh man, I grew up and played against a kid in HS whose parents shopped him around. Played at 2 High School's in Charlotte, 1 in California (Mater Dei), a prep school, a JuCo, and ECU. His parents also made a movie about him. Needless to say, the kid sucked. Some of y'all probably know the prominent Charlotte family haha.ericsaid wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 1:42 pmSomething many here seem to forget is that Burger's dad was a coach. Taylor Lamb was very much a coach on the field without the physical abilities of a guy like Burger. 6'4, 4.5 40, with an alleged cannon. If you have a guy like that who has all of the physical tools you could ever want to go along with Lambs player-coach mentality, the entire team will be elevated.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 8:39 amThis. Ponce had the entire Burger family in tears during one of his recruiting pitches. Burger was also a large reason Ponce initially turned down the Miami job before Cristobal came back with a lot more money.AppState89 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:52 amAccording to Ponce, he will be better. Best QB he has ever recruited and seen in high school.
Now, Burger has to obviously put it all together, but he has the talent to bring us to new heights. And everything I've seen from a couple of the practices I've been to, he gets better every day.
Cannot be understated enough. He's got some competition coming from McHugh who worked with Jordan Palmer in LA all year and whose parents had to have invested thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, in their son.
I'm certain Mchugh is going to be good, but don't think that's going to be the battle some think it is for next year. It'll be Burger, McBride, or Aguilar. I always get a little queasy when parents get involved to that level, but I understand it. We've got a stacked QB room though, could be anyones job.
One important thing is that Barbay recruited him. I think Burger will be fine and likely has the inside lane here, but you never know when a tire is going to blow (ask Kyle Larson about Pocono).
Sorry, thought we were adding irrelevant examples here.
