I Said It First

App State Football will finish 11-1. I know it's an early and bold prediction, but given what I've seen it seems realistic. Our team is pretty damn good all around. That complimented with what appears to be a down year for most in the Sun Belt I don't think we will lose another game.

I knocked on wood for all those nervous I might jinx us. I don't believe in that but I did it for you  . I more so believe what I see and what I've seen is a crazy good run game and a very aggressive defense that shuts down the run big time. I have not felt this great about our team all around since the glory days. I feel we are about to open the entire nations eyes again, just like we did that great day in September of 2007. Maybe then the media and public will notice our success goes beyond that one massive upset.

Early Prediction

Actually, Beth Satterfield told us that at Football 201 in late July. :)

Let's win the next one. Beat WYO!

I feel like this could be a special season. If we continue to win, at what point would we be a top 25 team or would we be ranked at all? Also, this may sound crazy but one game that still bugs me and always will is losing to a mediocre NC State the year we went 15-1 and won the FCS national championship. Regardless, let's go 11-1 plus one and finish 12-1 with a butt kicking of GSU just for fun.

An 11-1 record would be a strong case to crack the top 25. Our SOS is pretty weak though which might ruin those chances. Sadly, people would put a 8-4 team from a P5 ahead of a 11-1 team from the Sun Belt.

I think the only way we can be ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year would be to win out, and for Clemson to make it to the Playoffs. Looking at where UCF finished in 2013 and Marshall in 2014, I can't see us any higher than #20 in the final AP poll rankings if that happened.

Not only win out, but we'll need to blow the doors off of the teams we play to crack the top 25. Style points will matter for a Sun Belt team to reach that pinnacle

I agree!! I don't see why we can't go 11-1 this year. We are a lot better than most people think. DEFENSE wins games and we have a TOP 5 DEFENSE in the country right now.

I saw little bit of the news conference with Dabo yesterday. I have always agreed with one of his points. There should not be a ranking until mid October. It is beyond ridiculous to rank teams (especially like 15-20) preseason and early season. Look at what happens, like to Oregon and Auburn. Some teams have to claw their way over a mountain to get ranked and to move up high enough for playoff or serious bowl consideration. I kind of like the ESPN eliminator thing they do (although I hated seeing APP listed in week 2). It really pares down the contenders and pretenders. Even statistical rankings are ridiculous. As much as love seeing APP ranked 5th in total defense (I think Stink is number 1 in rushing offense), it really means nothing. We shut down Howard and ODU and only gave up 140 to Clemson. Don't get me wrong, I am pumped about this team and feel like 11-1 is very attainable. Satt may have to lay it on some teams to get some style points. Why not 11-1? Cart before the horse thing is obvious but we can speculate and hope because we have NO bearing on the outcomes. Fun stuff.
