Official FURMAN SUCKS! Attendance Thread
Game Six of Six
Furman @ Appalachian State
3:30 p.m. Kidd Brewer Stadium (24,050 -- Roanoke, VA)
Weather at kickoff: Sunny 64
Appalachian will conclude its 2012 regular-season campaign against a team wearing purple. That's hardly news for anyone familiar with ASU's traditions, only this is the other purple team. This one is the purple team that has put together quite the losing streak in Kidd Brewer Stadium. Wait, they both have. Okay, this is the one that has made all things Appalachian more evil than al-Qaeda in their mind. Oh yeah, so has the other purple team. Okay. This is the purple team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in so long, their fans don't bother to plan for it their Thanksgiving weekend plans. Crap! Ooh...ooh... This is the purple team that's greatest moment in football came during the Reagan administration. DAMMIT!!!
Wait, it's the one that SUCKS! Ah, yeah. Furman. The other one...No, that was (and still is) Marshall...the other purple one just, well, I mean, who really cares any more?
Things and stuff:
* It's no surprise that Appalachian continues to lead the FCS in average attendance. So far, the Mountaineers are averaging 27,760 (NZ). Second place Montana is averaging 25,041 (NZ).
* When combined with FBS schools, Appalachian is 82nd overall, in between Houston at 27,900 (NZ) and Louisiana-Monroe with 27,161(NZ again). Marshall chimes in with 26,109 (NZ), and Southern Miss is averaging 26,149 (Middlebourne, WV -- Finally).
* The 2010 Furman/ASU game drew a crowd of 29,093 (NZ).
* Appalachian's official seated capacity has once again gone up. An additional 900 seats were added to the 1,500 temporary seats erected behind the North end zone. ASU's new seated capacity of 24,050 is 7,400 more than it was at the start of the 2005 season.
* Appalachian has drawn over seated capacity crowds for 45 consecutive regular season games.
* ASU's all-time home attendance record of 31,531 (NZ) was set on October 9, 2010 at a homecoming tilt against Elon.
Setting the Bar for Black Saturday:
Last week's victory over Georgia Southern has kickstarted our spirits on the board, and I can assume that did help ticket sales as well. As of Friday afternoon, there are about 100 seats available in Section 109. It should be a bright and pleasant day in KBS for Black Saturday, which could make for a rather large walk-up crowd, who will have to settle for the green seats. Unfortunately, the most hardy fans will have to wait at least two weeks (hopefully three) before the Mountaineers take the field to play in some good Appalachian football weather. Still, the warm temps should encourage some on the fence to make it up to Boone for Senior Day. The stadium won't be busting at the seams, but it should be a pretty healthy crowd. In honor of Veterans Day, I will set the opening line at 28542 (MCCS Camp Lejeune).
Thank You, Vets!

Re: Official FURMAN SUCKS! Attendance Thread
Looks like we have 2 attendance threads. Here is my same post from the other one copied/pasted below. Thanks for reminding = Happy Veteran's Day to all fellow Vets and Families. This thread also confirms that FU sucks.
I am guessing high, but with confidence. Weather is gonna be nice. The true App State fans will be there. Very Loud too we hope! Also, this young and banged up team has earned the support (IMO).
30,088 (One of our favorite travel destinations = Stone Mountain, GA).
PS. I heard this rumor on another thread = FUrman sucks.

Re: Official FURMAN SUCKS! Attendance Thread
There appear to be 74 seats left in section 109 (visitor section) at this time. I find it somewhat surprising that section 108 is sold out as it is a little bit farther from the center of the field.
Prediction: 29,523

A large and loud crowd of 28,986 (NZ) packed Kidd Brewer Stadium to see Appalachian win its 12th Southern Conference Championship. Moonshine's guess of 28806 was the closest to the announced attendance without going over. In honor of Appalachian's championship, I present Moonshine some championship cookies.

And in honor of having the best handle and avatar on the new MMB, I present Moonshine with popcorn cookies.

I was on the sidelines with a field pass and at times in the 4th I couldn't hear my brother in law standing right next to me. Best atmosphere in a while.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!

Well I sure do appreciate the cookies and recognition! I'd like to thank my mom and my dad, the coaches, players, students, faculty, boosters, fans, our veterans, deliscious moonshine and ASU sponsors. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today. A big shout out to the fans who made their way to KBS to see our boys win another ring! As fans, we have 3 weeks off. Tend to your families, your yards and waistlines and be ready to pack the Rock for the 2nd round. I want to see a minimum of 24,000+ for App's opening round game.
I almost swept the prediction threads this week. With my 34-27 score prediction, I thought I was a sure winner until I saw huskie3 with a 31-26 score. I have to give it to huskie for getting the 5 point spread correct so congrats to huskie3 and our 2012 So(co)n Champion ASU Mountaineers!!!
