We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

We are an FBS team now. Why not add a bowl to round out the left endzone?

Because we can't fill the stadium up on a regular basis or afford to pay for it. The school is already charging $90 a student for the "new" stadium with 5 other building projects that are also still being paid for on student backs. Thats almost $300 per student per semester. Lets pay it off, let the paint dry and have proof that it would be a fiscally sound move.crossza wrote:We are an FBS team now. Why not add a bowl to round out the left endzone?

I'm a big advocate for stadium expansion, however I agree that we need to focus on filling up the one we have currently. A couple of Sun Belt championships should take care of that. I give it four years until the next official expansion announcement.

No to expansion until we can fill KBS back up like we used to.
Would love horseshoe though to replace grass hill at some point, that would look really cool.

needs to be done in the next 4 years, if we want to be competitive in getting better recruits.

If we keep winning like we are now (which, I think we will) and with the teams we will be playing, KBS will be filled again a lot faster than some think.sixtoes9134 wrote:No to expansion until we can fill KBS back up like we used to.

Think we need to pay for what we did already first. Overfill it regularly. Then lose the track, close in the Owens side with a new building /stands/ Yosef/banquet rooms/offices/suites. Leave the bank it's a tradition.
And fix it the field. Sorry, and I just can't get used to looking at the new field. Nothing wrong with it but it the end zones just don't look right and it throws off the whole vibe.

I would like to see the stadium used more as a way of trying to pay the stadium off a little quicker. Bring in some high school football games (like Lenoir area games), Pop Warner tournaments, and a DCI tournament.
One of the problems with Boone being so far off the beaten path and it's unpredictable weather is that it is harder to attract outside events; but that shouldn't keep us from trying.
The field is artificial turf so outside events aren't going to tear it up.

Getting rid of the track would be the better first step IMO. Then bring the end zone bleachers from the hill right up to the end zone.

I like this idea. Several stadiums I have been in have this arrangement. It would be straight across instead of a curved bowl leaving open ends in the corners. Connecting a curved bowl with either side would be a nightmare and imop ugly. Plus club and suites garner more money than seats alone.

Re: What is your opinion on KBS expansion?
speaking of possible new locations for the track, has anyone bought the old high school land yet?
Re: What is your opinion on KBS expansion?
No seat expansion until we can put butts in them...
We keep winning and that won't be a problem...

Re: What is your opinion on KBS expansion?
While I completely understand the argument not to expand right now, it is also smart to keep in mind we need to have a vision (expansion, larger teams, equal better recruits, better recruits equal winning). I believe this can be done within reason and at least built with the intention to be done in phases.
While we may not be able to fill all seating for every game it provides us the opportunity to bring in larger schools......larger schools usually equal more butts in the seat. When thinking about things like this, I like to think about ECU. they have had numerous expansion projects over the past 10-15 years and while they are not full all the time, it has opened up the possibilities for teams like unc, state and vt to come. I'm not saying we can get them to come, but there is no reason we can't continue to have the ecu's, dukes and wakes of the world to come.
Let's also keep in mind, no one is talking about expanding to a 50k seat new stadium, we're just talking about 30k actual seats with the potential of having the grass hill as overflow for big games.

Re: What is your opinion on KBS expansion?
When we see 30k crowds consistantly then we can expand. We have bitten off a big chunk with the move to FBS. The only way to pay for it now would be more fees and we've maxed out there for a while.
Re: What is your opinion on KBS expansion?
I would hate to see the north end closed in – until it is absolutely needed. IF we were to do any changes, we should move the stands closer to the field and remove the track.
