We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

If you are not eating (and drinking) in the parking lot before the game, where do you eat in Boone.

Re: Shout out to down town Boone!
Tapp is quality. My go-to spot.
There's a new place behind Mast General called Lost Province that does pizza and brews.
Melanie's is good for breakfast.
Mellow Mushroom is really good if you got a group.
Proper had a salmonella outbreak this summer.
Town Tavern is good food, but is a sports bar in name only.
The Rock was horrible over the summer. However, much better since the school year started. Wings are still bad.
There's an Indian Cuisine called Mints by Boone Bowling that has gotten good reviews.
Puerto Nuevo is about to open where Golden Corral was.

Murphy's. The service is shaky and it looks like they haven't fixed up the dining area in 15 years, but it was a favorite when I was in school and the burgers and cheese fries are as good as ever. Plus the bar is actually a pretty good place to watch the early games and grab a few drinks.

It smells and they don't clean the taps. One time I asked the bartender about their craft beer and he said "that isth taste like bathwater, get a Bud". Way to up sell your own products.EastHallApp wrote:Murphy's. Re: Shout out to down town Boone!
I have many stories about the inept service there, though moreso in the restaurant side than the bar. I also remember once noticing that they had halfheartedly attempted to conceal a B sanitation certificate. And the restrooms are not for the faint of heart. Nothing says "clean and fresh" like getting your hand soap from an old ketchup bottle. So yeah, I don't doubt any of what you say.T-Dog wrote:It smells and they don't clean the taps. What can I say, the pull of nostalgia and home fries drenched in ranch dressing and melted cheese is strong.

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Coyote Kitchen is the best restaurant in Boone. One of the best in the State. And I live in Durham, I can say that.

Sorry Boone, but I'd have to give it to the Woodlands in Blowing Rock.
Mellow Mushroom if I have to eat in Boone.
Use to like Frankie's but it's closed down.
Breakfast goes to Troy's Diner.

The founder of Peppers was an App student who dropped out to start the restaurant(s)...quite successfully at that. I say restaurants because he first started down around the 800 block of Blowing Rock Rd.

Is that when it was near Makoto's, I use to eat there as a student. I didn't know it was still in town.

I used to be a Woodlands guy. Then I moved to another part of the State. Woodland's BBQ is decent. The sides are good. But I could name 5 other restaurants in Boone with better food.Maddog1956 wrote:Sorry Boone, but I'd have to give it to the Woodlands in Blowing Rock.

Yes, except the building Makatos was in was a medium to pricy steak restaurant at the time, similar to Steak and Ale.Maddog1956 wrote:NewApp wrote:AppinATL wrote:Peppers! Not downtown, but I don't care, I love it!

Peppers is now out in the strip mall close to Perkinsville.

That location hasn't been there for several years. Peppers is in the Shops at Shadowline.
