Of course you are the guy who called Corey overrated and that he couldn't tackle - maybe you missed your calling as an NFL scout, coach, general manager because those dumbasses paid him an NFL salary for 6 years --- :o

How can so many Mountaineers have such major problems with people like Corey Lynch and Jerry Moore?

If you don't like Corey Lynch and Jerry Moore, who the hell do you like?

Corey Lynch. All-American. Great student. Three time national champion. Biggest play in school history. Sealed the 2006 championship with an interception. SAVED A WOMAN'S LIFE.

And you're mad because he's mad about his coach getting fired?

Corey Lynch is a three time national champion BECAUSE he's the kind of guy who would get mad about his coach getting fired.
If he was such a smart guy, great student, all-American then it seems it would have been pretty obvious to him not to throw your school under the bus over a situation where he either doesn't know the facts or just chose to ignore them. It was bush league and it was malicious.

Why is he still mad about his coach being "fired" years later? Nobody coaches forever. Jerry Moore is 114 years old. He wanted no part of the move-up. This is a new era. We had to get a new coach to make this transition.

Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion, but they are NOT entitled to be free from criticism after expressing that opinion. You make a statement, gotta wear it! (anyone remember the ditzie twits?) Corey is just wrong here. Bottom line.

The more I think of it, Corey's comment summed up why it was time.

That he would wish to sacrifice the biggest win in the history of Appalachian State University to save the ending fate of one man, even though that play really had no bearing on the timeline of his dismissal. Let that sink in for a minute.

That he would publicly say it right before App begins its most challenging season in school history, knowing it would divide the fanbase and possibly the team at a crucial time. Let that sink in for a minute.

That is cultish behavior.

Corey used an interview that was supposed to be about the 2007 game, went completely outside the scope of the interview to express his opinion and expand a vengeful personal agenda. He's waaay to smart a fellow to have not realized how his comments were going to be interpreted. I want the Jerry Moore thing to be put to rest and have a healing occur. I don't see ANY way that happens when this kind of stuff pops up. Coach Moore has to, at some point in time, come out publicly and end this division. The timing of it only appears, to me, to make it even more vengeful. Corey being a Christian makes it disappointing.

This was posted at halftime yesterday. This is from one of the captains last year.

Jamal Londry-Jackson @JLJ_QB12
Just came across Corey Lynch statement about Coach. That's big and takes faith to speak that. That's the kind of person coach was! #Greatest

Saw that and didn't bring it up... Wonder why it takes faith for Corey to say that in Jamal's opinion?

I don't know about Jamal's beliefs but the word faith tends to connect to religion. I still wonder how much of the strong religious feelings both Lynch and Moore have has made Corey's feelings even stronger than most player-coach relationships.

Maybe their bonding was more than just football.

Second day thoughts:

I don't think this is likely to "blow over." If that is the case, what should be done?

Cobb (or Peacock) seem to be the usual suspects when it comes to the blame game; they're both gone. Give JM and his cult their day; have a JM day, name something after him, whatever. Since we don't have an AD, either the Chancellor or the BOT needs to step up. The bottom line is, this continuing division is not good for the University, and it's definitely not good for our athletic program.

The only thing preventing Jerry Moore Day is Jerry Moore.

With Cobb gone, I do think the ice has thawed a little.

I wish Satterfield would say something one time about this along the lines of "I find Corey's comments very disappointing. No one is above the program and if feels that way, then he's not welcome back. Anyone who feels similar to Corey can not support our team and they can free up a seat for someone whose excited about our future."

The thing is that I don't think Satt will do it. He respects Jerry too much. However those in the Cult of Moore are actively hurting the program.

It was actually small by Lynch and displayed absolutely none of the attributes of the faith he so often talks about.

This cult is going to tear our program down, and for what?

Look, I truly appreciate what both of these guys have done for Appalachian State. But let's not forget that it was Appalachian State that gave both of them a chance. Corey Lynch or Jerry Moore aren't above the school. They are not above the football program. Bottom line. If they don't want to come back, then so be it. Corey needs to make this right or he should not be welcome back.

I would not suggest the strong words, as it will only build more walls. Coming from a fan, then that is different, but from a coach, that might be a bit hard. I think someone outside of the Cobb/Moore era needs to say something to Moore. I guess that would be Dr. Everts. Find out what he wants. Dr. Everts can honestly state she was not involved but wants to try and mend fences for the good of the university. If that goes south, and it may based on what some think about how Moore has handled this, then a public statement would be in order. Basically, thanking Moore, letting him know the door is always open to him, and his players and fans. At that point it is back in his/their court. We can't force anyone to be good alumni, but I don't think it would be wise to slam the door in their face, even if that is a majority opinion of those don't have not liked what Lynch and others have said.

I am sure the contact has been made, but we have had a new Chancellor for only 2 months and Cobb has been gone less than that. Had Dr. Everts or someone very high up reached out to Moore that was not connected to the past in a negative way.
