We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Isn't the reality of the situation that we can't collect anything from him. What we can do is prevent him from playing ball at a Div 1 school this year?

Absolutely (though its this year and next year). My long, and probably annoying, posts were just trying rebut the claim that this should be a life lesson about how the world works. This is not remotely how the world works. The world is much friendlier to people who break contracts, particularly to employees who break them.bcoach wrote:Isn't the reality of the situation that we can't collect anything from him. Re: Devonte Graham
Not annoying at all. I will say that what you are saying is very true in NC and probably VA but in some other states employment contracts are very much enforceable, and people do get held to them. North Carolina is different though. I had an employment contract with a non compete clause in it. I took another job and it was never even contested as they knew it would not hold water in NC. I am only guessing but it could be that it is because it is a right to work state.wataugan03 wrote:Absolutely (though its this year and next year). Can we ban this tool. His advice has already screwed up Devontes life, now he's trying to do the same to this board.

He's getting pretty close. It's obvious he has no understanding of what it means for someone to give their word.Saint3333 wrote:Can we ban this tool. His advice has already screwed up Devontes life, now he's trying to do the same to this board.

Either way I'm good.
My message is consistent, when you sign a deal you don't quit, you finish. A good lesson to learn at 18.

Re: Devonte Graham
This person might not be Devonte. Everytime I mention something about App basketball losing on Twitter, the #freedtae crowd retweets it. It's really sad. One thing I've noticed lately is that they're more about firing Capel than hating App basketball lately. I guess they figure once he's gone, Devonte will be free.
At this point, I hope he's kept to his LOI for as long as it goes.

Re: Devonte Graham
Hey app123-youve never answered the question posed to you...why aren't you man enough to encourage and teach this kid to keep his word? If you were any kind of mentor, you would help him to understand that part of being a MAN is owning your word. But you aren't, and your little game of hashtagging "freedtae" shows what a child you are. If you are in fact a product of Appalachian State, then you shame the diploma.
Give 'em hell!

Im neither his handler, mentor or the kid, Just a fan who graduated from the same high school years earlier. A coach is suppose to be a mentor, With that being said Capel should have the students best interest at heart. If he wants to go, wish him well.
"being a MAN is owning your word"...Pretty sure his mentor told him the consequences before he chose to go Prep. So I have to say that the kid is or will become a helleva MAN. Making a choice for what HE wants to do with HIS life and accepting whatever terms there maybe. This kid asked to be released over a year ago and has walked around since then with future in limbo. But still at top of his class and leading his team to a National Championship.
I hashtag #Freedtae because thats what I believe
Kid made a mistake!!! Are any of you infallible?
