As bad a hire as he was, Capel wasn't even the worst hire by a North Carolina-based university in 2010: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Bzdelik
Still would be interested in a straight up trade.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

At this point I don't think that should justify an extension. Getting hot for 4 days isn't enough to overcome 4 years of sub par performances. If we did somehow win the SoCon we would be in a weird predicament which is another reason why I say we cut ties now.

He's not going to be renewed, this season is a lost, fire him now so we can start openly looking for his replacement. Or even go ahead and announce he won't be back next season but let him finish out the year. I've seen that done in other places. That way we can go ahead and start the search. This is unacceptable.

Final four runs no, but consistent appearances in the NCAA's or NIT yes. There's no reason with the resources we have that we shouldn't be competing for the conference title every year, which would mean consistent invites.

Unless we are looking at someone who is not currently employed, it is unlikely that we can "start openly looking for his replacement." We can certainly identified who we might like to contact but during the season we can't be chasing any employed coach.

That is exactly right. Any employed coach who would be willing to talk to us at this point in the season is someone we would not want anyway.

I would hope anyone we intend on hiring would either have an agent or an advocate! Pulling the plug and at least "saying" we are looking and be the first on the block looking may not be a bad idea.

Gawd this is awful!

I've got two videos from Phil Jackson and Tex Winter teaching the Bulls offense and defense during their run. I'll supply the VCR and TV on a portable cart.

I was going to say the same thing. I guess everyone is looking for that magic man that's going to save this season, but dislikes his "winning team" so much that he's going to leave them during the season. Maybe it's just that they want to send the message that even if we couldn't tell that Capel was a bad coach at the beginning of the season we'll dump him half way in. Great message for a new coach.

I think our message is clear. Someone that has ties to Cobb's greatness and will take the job for below market value. Can't wait.

I love it. Plead to Cremmins to finish out the year as interim HC. He could save those kids. He'd do more to coach them up in a half season that Capel has in 4.

I'd have no problem letting any potential coach know that If, after four years, the team is among the worst in the nation and school history and going nowhere; they are completely lost on the court and are performing poorly in academics; there are discipline/criminal issues, and attendance is down to double digits --- yes, we will relieve you of your duties/ fire your arse in mid-season. Any self-respecting coach would likely agree.

Cut JC loose, name an interim, and get busy and ready to interview the second it is legal.
In the meantime, get ready for more humiliation and "SoCon" chants.

Let me think about this a minute. CC fires Moore and keeps Capel. Yes now that I think about it he is a pretty capable AD. I think we should put even more decisions in his hands. Hell maybe we should make him the new head magoo what be in charge of the whole darn school.

Not to defend CC but Moore was at the end of his contract and Capel wasn't. Now, if he doesn't let Capel go, then I'll jump in that boat with you.

I hear what you are saying but how many coaches with His track record have lived out their contracts. I am not big on letting a coach go mid season but I think this may be an exception. Let one of the assistants finish the season.
