We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Devonte Graham
I said I wasn't going to post any more on this topic but I thought some might like to see the new direction they are going in. I'll just let you guys read the posts for yourselves. The second line of the second post is the best. With the state of the SoCon next year, especially in BBall with who is leaving, I think nothing more needs to be said.
The Basketball Diary @TheBBallDiary
To clear up a bit of Devonte Graham situation with Appalachian State. Wants release because it was in Southern Conference. Now to Sun Belt.
The Basketball Diary @TheBBallDiary
When Appalachian State joined Sun Belt away games weren't close. If stayed in southern Conference then Devonte Graham wouldn't ask release.

Re: Devonte Graham
If away games were the issue, I believe Lees-McRae play their games in either North or South Carolina, problem solved.

We should grant him an immediate release to any Southern Conference school he chooses.appst89 wrote:Complete and utter bullshite.

Yeah, he was really going to play here if we stayed in the SoCon.

And weak spin it is! Let's see Mr. @im_dat_kid_dtae, if you're so concerned about being so far away from your family and your GF, what in the sam-hill are you doing at Brewster Academy--825 miles away from Raleigh? There are more than 250 accredited post-grad prep schools closer to your home than Brewster. Ohhhhh, let me guess--Brewster is a basketball factory. What a strange coincidence. Gotcha, dude!

Devonte signed in Nov 2012, asked for his release in Feb of 2013.
We made the Sunbelt announcement in March of 2013.
A month before any one besides maybe Cobb knew that the Sunbelt would happen he called the move. Let's go to Vegas with him, shoe money tonight!
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Prep school stars shine at Showcase

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The National Prep Showcase has annually served as the unofficial start to the prep school basketball season, and the 2013 edition was no different, hosting 23 top teams over the course of three exciting days of action.
And One ...
Devonte Graham (Raleigh, N.C./Brewster) has made headlines in recent months after Appalachian State refused to release him from his national letter of intent. Two things became clear this weekend. One, there is no way Graham will ever suit up for Appalachian State, according to Brewster coach Jason Smith. And two, if the Mountaineers ever opt to release him, he’ll instantly become the best-available point guard in the country. He’s athletic, able to make plays and shots alike, and blessed with an incredible set of hands, which are major assets on both ends of the floor.

Sounds like he should declare himself eligible for the NBA draft.app123 wrote:And two, if the Mountaineers ever opt to release him, he’ll instantly become the best-available point guard in the country. Re: Devonte Graham
At this point I agree with you. I was one that was saying release him in Feb. But with the way that he and him people have been trying to spin this, no just no. He can transfer to another college for next academic year and start playing in 15-16.WataugaMan wrote:And three, Appalachian State is not going to release him from his obligation, case closed!app123 wrote:Two things became clear this weekend. "When he signed his letter of intent, the Mountaineers were in the Southern Conference -- where four or five schools were within a few hours of Graham's home in Raleigh, N.C. Now, Appalachian State is in the Sun Belt, where most schools are more toward Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas."
and later...
"According to Smith, Virginia, Memphis, Creighton, Butler and Providence are among the schools that have reached out. "
Based on his stated criteria, I assume he flatly rejected interest from all of those but UVa?

Breaking news APP will release him and Capel will be fired. It is truly amazing all the post agreeing with me that it is time for Capel to go. Like I said months ago Graham wasn't released from LOI due to Capel trying to salvage a job. There was never any tampering, Just a selfish, arrogant individual who saw a opportunity to blame someone else for his failures. This kid has talent and realized he could play at a higher level thats it. Heck, look at this season what player of this calibre would want to be here. I know it died down for a while in the media, But I've been told it's not over.

If he knew he could play at a "higher" level then he should have waited to sign a binding contract. Capel has been a trainwreck, but his failures have nothing to do with this kid trying to weasel out of a binding contract. Even if Capel is fired tomorrow, I hope we don't cave in on this.

Re: Devonte Graham
Nothing in what what you just posted changes the FACT that young Mr. Graham signed a binding letter of intent. The fact that he changed his mind about attending ASU is all on him and no one else and thus any delays to his getting started on a college career is on him and not on ASU or Capel. I wish the young man well and hope that HE has learned a lesson. Too bad though, that it was a hard one. It did not have to be. Please stop trying to make ASU out to be the bad guys here.

Re: Devonte Graham
This is all on Devonte Graham!! He knew what he was doing. And if he didn't, it is still on him. DO NOT RELEASE HIM!! It is not ASU's, nor Jason Capel's, "fault" that Mr. Graham signed the LOI.
I also notice that in every twitter post about Mr. Graham, Jason Smith, the coach at Brewster, puts a "#AppState will not release him." In my opinion, it makes this coach look bad.
