I believe Stonewall's point is if our NT isn't commanding a double team that makes everyone else's job more difficult. So everyone is right here.
True. And I get that. But you don’t have to be big to draw extra attention. A good quick first step gets a guard and Center off balance just as much as going Mano Y Mano. Warren Sapp was a Hall of Famer because of Brad Culpepper. Culpepper took on the double teams so Sapp could get the QB and disrupt. He was 6’1” 280.

They don’t all have to be Tony Siragusa’s.

Puts a lot of pressure on ILBs , and yes eveyrone else plus we aren't playing against FCS athletes Saturday. Earl did a good job and we have had others .Size isn't everything but at nose it's a big plus.

Looking at stats from last year's game we out gained and out passed them. Plus he held the ball about 4 minutes longer. A game we should have won except for a couple of mistakes in the end zone either would have given us a W. In the 2019 win down there they out gained and out threw us, pretty even on time of control. The big difference in that game we had 1 turnover to UNC 3. We will see what we have Saturday. I would for sure like to see a competitive game. The first 2 have been barn burners!

I understand what you’re saying but if the “it puts pressure on the LB” is concern then I disagree. It allows the LB’s, particularly the ILBs to flow freely to the ball carrier. If the LBs and FS are making the tackles then they are doing their job.

What did he end up doing? Chose not to come back but is football over for him?

What happened to the aggressive, attacking offense that became the norm? We will never return to the top with a conservative, flat offense.
How far back into the memory bank are you going? I can’t recall us being all gas, no brake since the FCS years when we could out athlete peer schools.
I was a freshman in 2005, so I had the joy of experiencing the Nat'l Championship runs and the Armanti years, so I do consider myself a little spoiled. I know there have been years in between but even during the Taylor Lamb and Zac Thomas era's it seemed that we were way more aggressive offensively.
That’s fair but your introduction to App football set the bar really high. Lol. I feel like we really haven’t been that aggressive since Satt took over and it has looked different ever since. I would say the last time we were 60 minutes of aggressiveness was the 2018 NO Bowl. But that was a different situation where we were in the midst of a coaching change and the coaches decided to just let the kids have some fun.

Haven’t heard anyone mention this from the game Saturday, but we have better WR’s than I realized. 5 different WR’s caught TD’s & I don’t really recall many dropped passes.

Was happy to have good spread on the WRs (and TE). Even with Noel having decent numbers it was the OL that gave me the worry which reminded me of a lot of last year.

Though I do worry more about defense than offense currently.

I rewatched the game yesterday…. OL play was really bad Noel carried the ball a gazillion times. That’s where our emphasis needs to be. I think our D can adjust but line play has to better.

Hope having Marshall will help this game with bigger body at RB occasionally as well.

In practice I would use 12 men on defense to help mimic the extra pressure we might face. So much has already been said about the improved UNC defense but perhaps GW is pretty decent and SC might just stink up front. Guess we will see

Their defense was embarrassed last year and will be ready to go. Over under is 58.5, which is low.

Seems folks are expecting a 38-17 type game which sounds about right on paper.

In years past we had advantages at a few position groups, that doesn’t appear to be the case this year, maybe push at WR, RB and DB (neither are great). QB, and both lines they have a clear advantage.

I bet UNC will open the game with a promotional video using Eric Church.

This will be dubbed "The Eric Church game".

Is Luke still on his international tour? We need him on our sidelines.

Luke was only a third string dreamer on a second place team. He doesn’t provide much depth.

Well played! Feel like he could get in there with Bucky and make a mess up front! Is it Saturday yet?!
